Wow, so if someone writes a fix for Rockbox, my Sansa e200 Series MP3 player could, like, be frickin loaded with content.

one problem tho, currently mobile devices support up to 32gb only. How will they recognize 64gb cards that weren't even in the initial spec?

In reply to Wi-Fi MicroSD Card Makes Eye-Fi Look Obese
Is a Wi-Fi card that size even large enough to have an antenna effective for the wavelength? Wolfram Alpha says the wavelength is about 12cm for 2.4GHz...

If Verizon gets religion and starts including WiFi in more (all?) their data devices the I would agree that this wouldn't seem too useful in cellphones, as the writer suggests. BUT, if things don't change, then this would be very useful. Today it would be perfect for the Storm and the Tour.

Speaking of WiFi, can someone with some technical knowledge explain why data devices (iphone, BB etc.) don't have 802.11N yet. I mean, it would be a much faster experience, right ?

@RemembertheAmiga: Power, maybe, but mostly the fact that it's unnecessary for now. Processing power is already the main bottleneck in web browsing, not 802.11g.

@RemembertheAmiga: Correct me if I'm wrong but I also believe that currently the Eye-Fi technology (and this new product since it's similar) does not have the ability to be a two way wifi device. I believe they are only used for uploading files. Although it would still be helpful to have this ability in Verizon data devices, it think it would be even better if there was the ability for two-way data transfer.

@Purple Monkey Dishwasher: They are only used to upload files with the EyeFi cards, but the device has to be capable of both sending and recieving to be able to send anything over a network. TCP will not work if you are just sending or listening. So this new card might allow us (since we know it has to be capable) to use it as a wifi connection for the phone. Perhaps through some applications?

@TeriyakiChicken: Yeah that's a good point, I always thought that was weird. I wonder why Eye-Fi limits it to one way communication. I would be cool to see your camera as a wireless device on your computer and be able to add/delete photos and files from your computer. They could surely make a lot of money if they added a two way functionality. Especially for things like digital photo frames and any other appliances/devices. You could literally control/monitor a lot of things in your home.

Although I understand that Murphy's law predicts continually increasing storage and a continual decrease in size of the storage medium, I do think they should really stop at MicroSD for removable storage mediums. I don't care how small they make non-removable drives but if the removable ones get any smaller there needs to be an addition to Murphy's law which states that the smaller these damn things get, the easier they are to lose.

i've had a Zoom H2 audio recorder for a year and a half and i love it. i use it to record live music and use my canon g9 to record video at the same concerts.

the q3 has roughly the same audio recording capabilities as the H2, plus all the video capability that i need.

will definitely look at picking one of these up when they ship!

Way-ta-go Apple! Welcome to the world of yesterday.. yet again.

Won't support SDXC?? So what..? Apple programmers are lazy and don't want to make a minor driver update? Oh no wait.. that's right, it'll be a "new feature" on the next MBP.

Why is Apple always years behind everyone with their computers, yet taking the lead in phones/pmps in the US market? I say US, because the Iphone is a joke compared to what is available abroad.

Phone companies like Nokia have come out saying their phones abroad are a lot more sophisticated than in the states, the issue of bringing them here is Americans wouldn't use half the features because they wouldn't take the time to learn how to. If you want to pass off our blatent ignorance as poor software design then do so.
