"Oh look, the conjoined circus is in town."

"I hear they're twice as much fun as a regular circus."

And so the metaphor of love became tangible, a physical manifestation of the mechanics of romantic relationships. Most were confused, and never quite figured out how it worked, yet the climbed upon the mechanical beast with two backs. Most were thrown, but a few, managed to survive long enough to give others hope that they could ride contentedly for the rest of their lives.

@B52HVet: flippant reply aside, Deadwriter's comment gets my nomination for best comment of 2008. It's beautiful, yet like an authentic Persian rug has that single flaw - no, single omission that maintains its humility by intentionally avoiding perfection (the = they).

Why'd this come to mind first?

People let me tell you 'bout him

    he's so much fun

Whether we're talkin' man to man

or whether we're talking son to son.

    Cause he's my best friend.

    Yes he's my best friend.
