Researchers in Germany recently discovered a way to manufacture rubber that can “heal” after being cut or pierced. In this incredible video, you can see the rubber growing back together.
Call it whatever you want—the Wolverine plastic, the Terminator material, the Doctor Who ingredient—but this new regenerating polymer is amazing.
There is a new material that can heal itself in case of a scratch. It uses a concentrated polymeric ink, which flows out of a vascular system that mimics our own skin. The healing stops after seven cycles but "this limitation might be overcome by implementing a new microvascular design based on dual networks."
