    I'm an offender.

    I was 20 and met a girl at a club on New Years Eve 2003/2004. 18 and over club only btw. The girls birthday was in Feb(when she would have been of age), and it was consensual, but she wasn't legally old enough to give consent at the time. Even though a general assumption of a patron in an 18+ only club is that they are at least 18.

    I asked "What, am I supposed to check ID's?" to which they replied, "You could have always just waited til you were married."

    I have been denied housing and jobs, I have been harassed and threatened. One lady even stopped by my work before to "check to see if I was dangerous" because they had just moved to the neighborhood.

    I'm now 26, am a student, work full-time and have a 2yr old with my fiance. My only other run-ins with the law were a few speeding tickets, yet I am grouped and treated like the disgraces-to-humanity that rape and prey on children. I have to register as a Sex Offender until I am 45.

    What if my daughter wants to run for a public office someday? What if she wants to have friends over, but her friends' parents freak out because I'm listed as an offender. Will my daughter be ostracized? Most likely. Will she hate me because of it? I pray not. Will people realize that we are kept in a state of fear for political gain and public control? I hope so.

    Apps like this spread fear. Why don't we just actively parent our kids and listen to them when they speak. Most of the atrocities committed that I've seen result from an unattending parent and a sicko with no record presented with an opportunity to commit a heinous act. Should people who harm children be condemned? Absolutely. Do those college kids that went streaking across their campus deserve to be sexually oriented offenders? absolutely not.

    Huh, so I just checked this out. Turns out there's a guy who lives like, 2 blocks away! Turns out, he's an elder at my church...he's in charge of sunday School.

    @Bigbadbikernerd: lol, my sophomore year of high school my parents moved to a new house roughly in the same area but they pupil placed me in my old high school. However until I could drive they had to hire a car service for a little while to pick me up after school. The service wanted me to give them a phrase to say so I knew who they were, I picked "Would you like some candy?". They were not amused.

    I am not trying to sound pro-sex offender, but this app seems very dangerous. It makes it very easy to know where the offenders live, and I definitely see damage being done to them or their property.

    @Paul Combs: this information is public record and available many other places. just google "sex offender map". itll usually show you their home, work, and crime committed.

    This is almost like my app that Apple rejected, it was called "Pedophinder". It used the GPS to show Sex Offenders where the nearest school or day care was.
