Ugh. Now if we could have cheap-cheap receivers and cheaper plans.
Why should I have to spend $16 a month after royalties and taxes to listen to one channel that constantly replays the same music, because my receiver doesn't "support" the Ala Carte plan?
I'm looking at you, SIRIUS/XM Chill. I've heard Alexandar Daf's "In a Silent Way" TOO MANY TIMES. It's like... following me.
Go into a Best Buy and turn on a demo SIRIUS unit... it's playing. Get home after a day of work... it's playing.
Yeah - I'm going to stick with NPR, Pandora, Last.Fm, and Slacker - what with them being FREE! I've got enough subscriptions in my life - radio is not and will not be one of them.
Still, it's admirable how Sirius has managed to really show up to the party late.
Since they are billing this as the "XM" SkyDock, and their programming options include the "best of Sirius" package...this is geared for the XM subscribers, and not the Sirius subscribers?
Would this not work the same, regardless of which service I have?
@12-Inch Idongivafuck Sandwich: I think not. XM and Sirius each have different tuners. Most of the programming's the same at this point, this is an XM product and won't work w/ the Sirius network. There would need to be either a separate model for Sirius, or it would need to be dual-band. I don't know if dual-band or unity recievers are on the market yet.
@12-Inch Idongivafuck Sandwich: You'll need to switch to XM to use the SkyDock and get the Best of SIRIUS package for the Skydock.
@Chimaera: Yes, there is. The MiRGE receiver, which is ~$200. Requires the SIRIUS|XM "All in One" package for the unit, $19.99/mo not including the bend-me-over royalty fees and taxes.
Okay all you peeps that bitched at me when I complained about 3.0 still not running background apps-- Tell me how I can listen to sat radio while using my TomTom GPS app and running Trapster so I know where the cops are??
@MikeSWelch: I just find it half-baked. It's really not ready for prime-time. It frequently shows me on a different road than I'm on (I'm not in a city where it could justifiably be wrong). It sometimes shows me travelling in the wrong direction. There are a lot of missing BIG poi's. It crashes. II couldn't get it to even show me where I was in walking mode even though the GPS locked on. It doesn't show you where you are until you've started moving a little. It's just weird. I submitted requests to iTunes Store and to the maker but I doubt I'll get a response. MAYBE the update will be better but I don't hold out a lot of hope.
Someone even pointed out that they clearly rushed it to market as is evidenced by the fact that when you click on "Hotels" you get a list of restaurants and vice versa.
@Homerjay would like a refund for CoPilot for iPhone: By the way, Trapster is the IDEAL background app. It worked perfectly for me today when approaching a life speedtrap. LUCKILY I had it running. If everyone with an iPhone had it running in the background it would be even better.
@Homerjay would like a refund for CoPilot for iPhone: Anyone who is tech-savvy enough to follow Giz can Jailbreak an iPhone. I did, and now I basically have an iPhone 3GS Pro that beats the pants off a Blackberry any way. I can background Navigon, Slacker, and check my email all at the same time, with barely a hiccup.
@redman042: I'm sure I CAN do it. I just kinda wanted it to be perfect just the way it was. I suppose the fact that it's married to AT&T has already tarnished that view so what the hell. I'll try to work on that tonight.
@Homerjay would like a refund for CoPilot for iPhone: I do to, and I generally I don't like hacking my phones. But what's perfect for us is too complicated for others, and I think that's part of Apple's motivation here (the other obviously being control). Managing open and closed apps to save battery and memory is a little too much effort for grandma. But something as simple as an out-of-the-box iPhone is a cakewalk for her. The rest of us can jailbreak. It may not be the most elegant solution, but it works brilliantly if you do a little research and be careful about it. Plus you're far better off with a 3GS, which can handle the burden so much better than the 3G.
Blame Howard himself for no Howard. His contract with Sirius expressly states what kind of mediums his show can be broadcast on, and this isn't one of them.
Seriously. I was all set to make this the first app I purchase on my 3G_S, and was actually willing to cough up the extra $3 on top of the $77/6 months I pay, and they can't even give me all the channels.
@tptcat: Yeah, its paying more, i have a sirius subscription, which allows me to listen online as well, and my login doesnt work with this app, it says I need to pay an additional $3 a month to for the app to work???? I already have paid for online listening, now they want me to pay again, and no mlb or stern, and this call this app the "SiriusXM Premium Player" yet it doesn't play the premium channels??? Am I just really confused here?
@AndyShannon: Get Pocket Tunes from the App store. You can use your current online login and password to listen to anything you can on you computer now.
PLEASE LISTEN: If you are already an XM or Sirius subscriber, and don't want to pay an extra $3/month for this service, get Pocket Tunes from the App store. It will let you listen via 3G or WiFi to any channel you can listen to online now with your XM or Sirius account, as if you were listening on your computer.
Not affiliated any way with Pocket Tunes. Just been using it for the past six months with no issues.
I once had a friend, who was seriously obsessed with his ex-girlfriend. All he would do is talk and talk and talk about this chick who dumped him. It wouldn't matter what we were talking about, he would always bring her up. It got to be a point where you would seriously want to punch him and his ex-girlfriend in the throat.
I imagine the shopping cart would be for some connection to a purchase music service. Didn't the XM Inno units have a purchase iption so you could click on a song playing on an XM station and purchase an MP3 of it?

You have it backasswards.
Ending a sentence with a preposition is now considered acceptable.
But removing key sports content (and I'm sure for others removing Stern) makes this something I am not interested in.

Let's see what tomorrow brings. It would be nice to be able to listen to Sirius XM while doing other things. I hope it's streaming over WiFi and 3G.
This is actually a pretty decent price if this is accurate.

You're missing the point. They made it "official" on the conference call. No more rumors or speculation.
