If that's true, the phone will wrestle the title from the Samsung Pixon, which measures in at a super slim 13.8mm. Besides the 8MP camera, the KC780 is also expected to have a TFT display with limited touchscreen, 30fps video recording, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity, 140MB of on-board memory and a microSD slot for more, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.0. • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
• Dual-band UMTS/HSDPA (850MHz/2100MHz)
• 950 mAh battery
• 105.5 x 53.5 x 15.8 mm
• 240×480 2.8-inch LCD

• 100MB of memory with microSD support up to 16GB
• Bluetooth 2.0
• USB 2.0
• Wi-Fi

<![CDATA[ HTC Dream Engineering Drawings Reveal its Skinniness, Big Chin ]]> Yesterday we had the FCC imagery to give us some of the HTC Dream's sizes, but today over at Androidguys.com they've got hold of engineering drawings that give us the full data: it's pretty skinny. Interestingly it's got a bent chin that looks a lot like the MotoRizr design, but the screen here slides to the side to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard. By using the FCC dimensions and doing a little measurement it looks like the phone's body is around 0.64-inches (16.35mm) deep which makes it fatter than the iPhone's 12.3mm, but thinner than the HTC Touch Pro's 18.1mm. The screen bezel complies with an approx 3.5-inch screen, but doesn't confirm the size of the screen itself. We'll have to wait for the next leak for that. The i8510 is a S60-powered GSM phone with very fast 3G speeds and Wi-Fi, as well as GPS. What makes this high-end phone lust-worthy, though, is the 8 Megapixel multifunction camera with Xenon flash that can record video at up to 120 frames per second. It also has image stabilization and face recognition as well as other features. Couple that with Bluetooth 2 and 16GB of internal flash storage and you've got a serious, slim phone for T-Mobile users. And it looks really nice, too. [Symbian Guru]

<![CDATA[ The i8510: Samsung's 8 Megapixel S60 Slider ]]> If the rumor mill is correct, Samsung is cooking up a new Symbian S60 slider dubbed the i8510 with some serious specs under the hood—including an 8 megapixel camera. The full list of specs are impressive, and would definitely pose a threat to the upcoming Nokia N96 if it is the real deal.

The full list of specs are as follows:

•2.8-inch QVGA (240×320 pixels), 16m colors
•8 megapixel camera with auto-focus, xenon flash and 120 fps video recording
•UMTS with HSDPA support, WiFi, GPS, TV out, DivX support, dedicated 3D graphics chip
•Optical mouse (same as i780 and i900 Omnia)
•200 mAh battery
•106.5×53.9×16.9 mm metal case
•16 GB internal memory (possibly an 8 GB version as well)

Impressive. Conflicting reports have the i8510 running either Feature Pack 1 or 2 and there is no word on whether we are talking tri-band or quad-band GSM here. However, as with any rumor, we will just have to wait and see what holds true. [Forum2 via Estato via IntoMobile via BGR]

<![CDATA[ Nokia E71 and E66 Phones Stuffed with Two Cameras, Wi-Fi, GPS and More ]]> The E66 and E71, two Nokia E-Series cellphones in last week's rumor mill, are now official. Up top is the E71, a slick QWERTY phone that's a lot less chunky than its predecessor, the E61. It comes equipped with a 3.2MP camera in the back, a front cam for video calls, Wi-Fi and GPS, just like the E66 down below.

The E66 is a good looking slider with a neat feature: it switches between portrait and landscape mode when it's turned. (Sound familiar?)

In addition to the features already mentioned, both phones support two home screens for business and personal modes, have 110MB internal memory and a microSD slot that can handle an 8GB card. They'll be available next month for GSM networks, both around $500. [Nokia]

The cool metallic finish is complemented by the bright colour display, which showcases the Nokia E71 device’s brilliantly simple user interface. Designed for both one-handed and two-handed use, the Nokia E71 pays special attention to ergonomics, as evidenced by its narrow shape and specially designed keypad.

The Nokia E66 offers a premium look and feel with its stainless steel accents and smooth sliding design. Sharing the same key features as the Nokia E71, including an enhanced calendar, contacts and customizable home screen modes, the Nokia E66 offers unique additions, like an orientation sensor that automatically optimizes itself for full screen viewing or silences the ringer when the device is turned over. Available in grey steel or white steel version, the Nokia E66 leaves a lasting impression as a sophisticated business tool in a distinct design.

Always Entertaining

In addition to email and personal information management, the Nokia E71 and Nokia E66 support the latest Ovi services including maps, music and media sharing that power users expect from their device. This includes fast and seamless browsing with HSDPA, wireless LAN and 3G connectivity, Assisted GPS (A-GPS) and Nokia Maps for navigation, a music player with support for up to 8 GB expandable memory and a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera.

<![CDATA[ Samsung P960 Heralds the European Arrival of the Mobile TV Cellphone ]]> While mobile TV cellphones are ten-a-penny in the Far East, the West is pretty much virgin territory for them. Samsung's P960, however, may have got the ball rolling, a mobile TV phone aimed at European consumers. A sleek gray slider, the P960 supports both European mobile TV standards, DVB-CBMS and OMA-BCAST, and its 2.6-inch QVGA TFT screen even lets you watch two channels at the same time. As to whether we're going to see a US-friendly version later on in the year—well, that's not clear yet, but since the menu behind the dude is in dollars, perhaps the Koreans are making their press budget go a little further. Press release is after the jump.

SEOUL, KOREA - April 30, 2008 - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a leading mobile phone and No. 1 TV maker, announced today P960, the world's first slider type Digital Video Broadcast - Handheld (DVB-H) mobile TV phone P960. As a pioneer of slider mobile phones and TV, it was only a matter of course for Samsung to develop a device that contains both of its strongest strengths in one. P960 is also the world's first DVB-H mobile TV phone that supports both of European mobile TV standards, Digital Video Broadcast - Convergence of Broadcast and Mobile Service (DVB-CBMS) and Open Mobile Alliance Mobile Broadcast Service Enabler Suite (OMA-BCAST). DVB-CBMS is DVB Forum initiated DVB-H standard based on DVB-T standard, currently available in Italy through H3G, TI and Voda. It will soon become available in France, Belgium, Poland and Russia. OMA-BCAST is OMA initiated DVB-H standard known as the next generation DVB-H solution. It will first become available in Netherland and will continue to be adopted in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. P960 offers an optimized television-on-the-go experience with a large 2.6" QVGA TFT screen with vivid 262K color image-enhancing DNIe. TV watching experience is enriched by numerous innovative DVB-H features such as Electronic Service Guide (ESG) that provides an on-screen TV guide and Picture in Picture (PIP) that allows users to view two channels at once, and Time-Shifting feature that shifts TV program schedule when a show is interrupted by incoming calls. P960 also proudly features Bang & Olufsen ICEPower® technology for a professional quality audio experience. The battery life of 1200mAh ensures up to 5 hours of TV watching time. In addition to DVB-H technologies, P960 also offers satisfying entertainment features to meet even end-users needs. A 3 megapixel camera with power LED, a music player with Music Library feature and codec support, a FM radio with RDS for around the clock news and music, are all included in P960 to provide the users convenience and enhancement in both audio and visual entertainment life. As Samsung mobile's well-known reputation, P960 does not compromise an outstanding design with technologies. The device features all the up-to-date technologies within a slim 16.7mm thin metal body, softly brushed with hairline pattern. Geesung Choi, President of Samsung's Telecom Business said P960 is a milestone for mobile TV technology, as the launch of the device will signify the beginning of DVB-H phone era in Europe. "Samsung has already achieved a stable No. 1 leader position in Korea as the mobile TV phone provider. There is no doubt Samsung will continue the success in Europe with P960."

<![CDATA[ HTC Touch Dual Set to Make Its Debut in the U.S. ]]> The HTC Touch Dual has been available in Europe for some time now, but a recent announcement has revealed that it will be sliding its way to the states sometime during this quarter. No pricing has been announced, but if you want to get your hands on one, Best Buy or Best Buy Mobile is where its at. Full details available in the press release after the jump.

Debuting in the United States, the HTC Touch Dual Incorporates an Intuitive Touch Screen, Slide-Out Keypad and Windows Mobile 6.1 Software

HTC offers customers an enhanced mobile experience through the introduction of Windows Mobile 6.1 software updates for a variety of HTC devices.

LAS VEGAS — April 1, 2008 — HTC Corp. (TAIEX: 2498; "HTC"), a global leader in smartphone design and manufacturing, revealed that the popular HTC Touch Dual™ will debut in the United States this quarter. Announced today at the Cellular Telecommunication and Internet Association (CTIA) Wireless 2008 spring conference, the HTC Touch Dual™ combines an intuitive touch screen with integrated TouchFLO™ technology and slide-out keypad and Microsoft Corp.'s Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional software, making it easier for customers to communicate on the go.

"HTC has witnessed incredible support and demand for the Touch product portfolio, and we are pleased to provide our customers with the opportunity to experience additional iterations of the Touch product family," said Jason Mackenzie, vice president of HTC America. "The Touch Dual will be among the first devices in the United States to run Windows Mobile 6.1 and will be followed by a range of 6.1 updates for several other HTC products."

Software Upgrades Available on HTC Devices

In partnership with Microsoft and key mobile operator partners, HTC will continue to extend the functionality of many current HTC devices both in the United States and abroad by providing Windows Mobile 6.1 updates. Windows Mobile 6.1, an update to Windows Mobile 6, provides new timesaving features, easier phone navigation and management, stronger security safeguards, and support for Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008. Some of HTC's most popular smartphones including the Touch by HTC and Mogul by HTC from Sprint, AT&T Tilt, Alltel Wireless' HTC Touch and PPC6800, and the HTC TyTN II, will be among the first of many devices available for a Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade.

Supporting existing customers and enhancing their experiences continues to be a focus for HTC; Sprint and HTC recently provided an update for the popular Mogul by HTC, making it the industry's first EV-DO Rev. A-capable handset while also enabling additional GPS functionality.

"Windows Mobile enhances people's lives by providing them with an experience that keeps them close to what's important to them — anywhere, anytime," said John O'Rourke, general manager of the Mobile Communications Business, Microsoft. "HTC has a history of providing a great selection of popular Windows Mobile phones, and we are pleased to bring the latest in software to a range of its products around the world."

HTC Touch Dual Availability and Features

Best Buy will be the first to offer the HTC Touch Dual, which will be available through select Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile retail outlets, online at BestBuy.com and htc.com.

"At Best Buy we are committed to providing customers with a wide selection of high quality handsets," said David Ryan, director of merchandising, Best Buy Mobile. "We look forward to adding the innovative HTC Touch Dual to our current lineup of unlocked phones."

Taking user control to a whole new level, the HTC Touch Dual combines an intuitive touch screen and keypad within a stunning design. <![CDATA[ HTC's Patent Shows New Type of QWERTY Slider ]]> HTC's QWERTY sliders like the Sprint Mogul or AT&T Tilt may work great as a text entry device, but dialing on the touchscreen or even the keyboard sucks a big one. Their latest patent shows a device that combines the texting convenience of a QWERTY keyboard but keeps a dialpad in as well, without having to have extra thickness like the Helio Ocean.

How do they do it? By having the phone slide diagonally into the QWERTY position, then diagonally back into the dialing position. Hopefully, there's also a sliding into the "closed" position where all keys are hidden, but seeing as how the keyboard is larger than the screen, that seems unlikely. Maybe that's why the idea is just a patent now. [UnwiredView]

<![CDATA[ T303 Is Sony Ericsson's Latest Petite Slider ]]> The new Sony Ericsson T303 may not be the Xperia X1, but it looks like a tiny, simple slider phone that will fit in any pocket. Sony Ericsson says that it combines "premium finish and materials with a good feature-set to deliver style with substance," which is probably their own stylish but insubstantial way of saying "hey, it's made of black or chrome metal, it has a camera, Bluetooth and FM radio, a mirror glass display, and it works!"

Sony Ericsson targets a style-conscious audience with a small and neat slider phone

04 March 2008

The stylish new T303 slider phone furthers Sony Ericsson's commitment to broaden its appeal to a wider audience. Petite and good looking, it offers designer good-looks without the price tag to match.

Hanover, Germany - 4th March 2008 - Sony Ericsson today unveiled the T303, an attractive phone that is small and neat enough to carry with you on every occasion. This compact slider phone has been given the high-end treatment, with a mirrored screen, metal housing and chrome finish.

"The T303 is a great addition to the Sony Ericsson T-line of products, combining premium finish and materials with a good feature-set to deliver 'style with substance'." said Lykke Tærsbøl, Senior Designer at the Sony Ericsson Creative Design Centre. "The balance between shape and size in combination with the design makes it a truly eye-catching product. Our aim was to create a phone that would function equally as a daily companion as well as something to show off on a night out.

Sony Ericsson T303
Style at its best

• Provides pocket-sized convenience
• Promises premium good looks thanks to a metal and chrome finish
• Does the basics well, whether that's camera, Bluetooth™ or FM radio

Big in looks, mini in size
The T303's diminutive size is distinctive for all the right reasons. Because it doesn't take up much room, it's perfect for those nights out when space is limited and not everything can come out with you. The T303's compact size means that this phone will always be one of the chosen few.

Chic and smooth, reflecting your every move
The T303's metal and chrome finish makes it hard for those around you not to be impressed by its premium appearance. Its soft shape and smooth sliding mechanism make it a feel-good experience that you can enjoy every day. And the mirror glass display on the front of the phone goes yet further in making the T303 even more stand-out in its appearance.

Picture perfect
The T303's megapixel camera is ready to take pictures in an instant. So if you come across the perfect shoes whilst out and about, but want a second opinion, just one quick snap and you can send a picture message to one of your friends. You can use Bluetooth™ technology to transfer photos wire-free from your phone to a compatible computer, and then email them to any number of helpful style-advisers. Or just to send the photos of a day's adventure directly to a friend's phone.

Play-as-you-go
With life being ever more hectic, it's essential to be able to slow down the pace and take time out, whenever you get the chance. The T303 comes with a built-in FM radio, meaning you can tune in, chill out, and let time just pass you by. It also has its own media player and comes preloaded with Sony Ericsson's TrackID™ feature. Record a clip of a song in a bar or café and find out instantly what track it is and who sings it.

Accessorise
With such a good-looking phone, you'll want to keep it that way. The Protective Case IDC-22, part of Sony Ericsson's Design Collection, gives you the opportunity to develop your stylish look still further. Not only will it help keep your phone looking good, but it also has room for all of those essentials...your credit cards, keys and your T303.

The Sony Ericsson T303 will offer designer good-looks without the price tag to match. The T303/T303c is a GSM/GPRS 900/1800/1900 phone that will be available in selected markets from mid 2008.

The T303a is a GSM/GPRS 850/1800/1900 phone that will also be available in selected markets from mid 2008.

<![CDATA[ Nokia Triple Slider Concept Goes Over the Top ]]> Based on a recent patent entitled "A Layered Mobile Device," Nokia may be saying "to hell" with the clean and simple design trend with a triple slider concept that goes all in. The device would feature a numeric keypad (with a dedicated set of multimedia keys on the back) and a QWERTY keyboard layered on top of one another. The kind of sliding motions they are proposing here are complex to say the least —probably too complex to be truly practical. And then there's the small matter of the HSDPA and the micro SDHC card slot, making me think that the G800 will be Samsung's mobile TV phone. More pics and specs below.

See what it says there? Now, onto storage. We already know that 8GB memory cards are in the offing, but microSDHC can support cards with up to 32GB of storage &mdash so I'm going to pull my Earl Hickey Thinking face and nod my head sagely. Meanwhile, more info.
Tri-band GSM/EDGE 3.6Mbps HSDPA
5 megapixel camera
103 x 51 x 16.8 mm
2.4-inch QVGA display
Bluetooth 2.0/USB 2.0 connectivity
MicroSD and microSDHC flash memory support
I know everyone's all "Touchscreen, touchscreen, I must have a touchscreen" at the moment, but that's not a bad alternative if you want something a little more discreet. [GSM Helpdesk and Let's Go Mobile via Unwired View]

<![CDATA[ Samsung's UFO Phone Stands for Unimaginable, Fast Speed and Oh, 7.2 Mbps ]]> The official name of Samsung's new slider is the SCH-W300, but it's been dubbed the UFO phone — and rightly so, given its ghostly gray fizzog. An HSDPA cell with 7.2Mbps download speed, which means an MP3 file in 4.4 seconds, a video file in 44 seconds. Snappy stuff, almost as snappy as its UFO moniker. More deets and another pic below.

samsung-ufo-sch-w300-samsung-w300.jpgJust 12.9 mm-thick, the SCH-W300 has a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth and transportation card function. Available in Magic Silver and Black Pearl to start with, and Violet and Sapphire Blue to follow, the UFO phone will be available firstly in Korea, with a suggested price of below $630. I should hope so too! [Aving via Unwired View]

<![CDATA[ Thomson V888 PMP Slider ]]> Yes, we recommend you pick up the Thomson (TMS) V888 slider—not because it supports a ton of video/file formats including Divx and .pdf. Not because it has a four-inch screen or uses inexpensive flash media for storage. And certainly not because its SNES-like control pad and vague "game emulator."

You should get the V888 because it's a slider. Yeah. Like a late night run to a cheap burger joint. Like the electric slide. Like 2001 all over again. The V888 will run you about $132 if you're willing to walk to China to get it. But we recommend you slide there. Disclaimer: It's early and we've had no coffee this morning. [zol via pmptoday]

<![CDATA[ Samsung i620 Smartphone is a More Traditional Slider ]]> This is kind of a unique design. The i620 smartphone from Samsung is a slider, but is a slider in the more traditional, non-smartphone sense. Windows Mobile runs this beast and it also includes Wi-Fi, 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, MicroSD expandability and more. Under the slider is a full-size keyboard, and actually, I am kind of intrigued by this design. I've always been a sucker for a sweet slider, though.

<![CDATA[ Samsung F700 Touch Smartphone Up Close and Greasy ]]> Vincent over at Slashgear has a large hands-on with the Samsung F700 sliding smartphone (see comparison). The phone itself had a really good keypad and has great tactile feedback, but Vincent thinks the OS was locked because Samsung didn't want people viewing the un-finished product just yet.

As for the finish, it's definitely glossy and sexy, but a huge fingerprint and face grease magnet. Head over to Slashgear to get a closer look.

<![CDATA[ Samsung Ultra Edition 10.9: Slider Gets Even Thinner ]]> We already thought the Samsung 900 was slim and sexy, and now Samsung has shaved 2mm off its thickness to make the most improbably thin slider we've seen yet, the Ultra Edition 10.9. Just look at that phone! How thin can you get? Any thinner, and you really could use this as a razor.

That 10.9 number is how many millimeters thick this slimster is, but it's not skimping on features, including a 3.2-megapixel camera, an MP3/video player, 80MB of internal memory and a microSD card slot. Look for this one to officially roll out on February 12 at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona.

<![CDATA[ Samsung Z720 Ships: Ultra-Slim Slider With Ultra-Fast Data ]]> Jaws dropped when Samsung unveiled its Z720 Ultra Edition 13.8 cellphone last summer, and now the company is actually shipping the tiny slider in Europe. Despite its 13.8mm-thin slimness (that's why it's called the 13.8), it still packs a 3-megapixel autofocus camera and also has a front camera to enable video calls. Watch all that on a 2.1 inch 320x240 display, and adding to the coolness is HSDPA with data speeds of 1.8Mbps.

Looking a lot like the Samsung D900 that's popular in Europe and now available here, this one's even slimmer. It's a great-looking form factor, and one that we should be expecting stateside next year, if not from Samsung then similar models from its imitators.

<![CDATA[ Samsung SCH-V960 Slider Has First Optical Joystick on a Cellphone ]]> Here's a first from Samsung: a cellphone with an optical joystick. Slide your finger on it and the cursor moves anywhere you want on the screen, instead of just in four directions like most directional controls on cellphones. Then you can click on the icons on the screen, just like when you're using a laptop touchpad.

The V960 also includes a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth and GPS capabilities, plus it has a light sensor that adjusts screen brightness according to ambient lighting conditions. Nice way to preserve battery power. It'll be available in Korea later this month, and even if this one doesn't find its way to US shores, its optical joystick is a concept that should be ubiquitous before too long.

<![CDATA[ First Photos of LG KE260: Looks Kinda Strange ]]> ke2602.jpgWhat do you know, a non PS3-related story. What it is is the first photos of the upcoming LG KE260, a slider cellphone that functions on GSM networks. As you can see, it has a different look to it than most other cellphones and college students might recognize the shape as resembling a "clicker." As is often the case, little is known about the cellphone's actual features, how much it'll cost, where it'll come out, etc., so take this opportunity to get familiar with the cellphone's smooth curves and contours. For more of that, jump for joy.

ke2601.jpgThe KE260 doesn't seem to be as fancy as other LG offerings, but maybe LG is planning on marketing it as an everyman cellphone.

<![CDATA[ EV-K170 Slider Phone Is Two Phones In One ]]> cellphonek170.jpgMade for people who carry around two phones—one for work and one for your wife to nag you at work—this KTFT EV-K170 slider allows you to dial and receive calls with two numbers simultaneously. There are two modes, an "H" mode and a "B" mode (Home and Business, anyone?) that can be swapped back and forth depending on which number you don't want your mistress to see.

Other features: FM radio, 1.3-megapixel camera, voice recorder, and FM radio. It doesn't appear to be available anywhere outside of Korea—when's the last time you had a KTFT-brand phone—but it is a cool idea for cellphone cowboys.

<![CDATA[ Ivory Cellphone ]]> ivory-phone.jpgThis slider cellphone has a shell of ivory, intricately carved with dragon designs. The ivory, harvested from Elephant, Mammoth(?) and camel teeth, taking three engravers over 3 months to make. Only six available, worldwide. The brightside: At over $20,000 dollars, the proceeds will go towards destroying baby seals using dynamite and AK-47s. Amazing the things you can buy in China.

<![CDATA[ Samsung IP-830w on Sprint: World Phone, Smart Slider, First Look ]]> samsung_worldphone.jpgIf you're a world traveler, you might want to take a look at this Sprint IP-830w "world phone," a sliding Samsung smartphone with a 320x240 touchscreen, an SD memory card slot, and a 520MHz Intel PXA 272 CPU. Our buddy Dave at Mobility Today took a First Look at it and liked what he saw. He also grabbed lots of close-up shots for you cellphone-porn lovers.

In case you didn't see Jason's astute assessment of the phone when Sprint introduced it a couple of weeks ago, this one will compete with the crowd of smartphones populated by the likes of the Treo 700wx and Motorola Q, but there's a major difference: it runs on Sprint's CDMA network and you can also use it on almost any GSM/GPRS network anywhere in the world as long as you have a prepaid SIM.

It's not bad looking, either, but it is a bit heavy at 6.4 ounces. No word on pricing or availability yet.

<![CDATA[ Samsung Z610 Slider Cellphone On Its Way ]]> Samsung is knocking on the cellphone styling door from all angles, and now it's following the iPod's lead, imitating the familiar creamy white form factor. We get this sneak peek at the Samsung Z610 as it begins to pass muster with the FCC, so we might be seeing this attractive little bauble by the end of the year.

The 3G-supporting slider handset has a mildly respectable spec list, with a 2-megapixel camera, a microSD expansion slot, and the capability of playing MP3/WMA/AAC audio files. Expect to see more music-capable phones with high-style design as we get closer to the inevitable mobile music phone launch from Apple.

The SGH-E900 has 80MB of internal memory and a microSD slot for additional storage. No word yet on price or availability, but since it's GSM (900/1800/1900), you could most likely import this for US use as well.

<![CDATA[ Cellphone Porn: Motorola Canary and Capri Mash It Up ]]> We bring you pictures from a website that treats cellphones like porn: BengalBoy, the so-called "Bleeding Edge Pimp," shows us what Motorola's two unannounced and unreleased handsets, those two well-rounded baubles nicknamed Capri and Canary, look like when they're nuzzling up next to each other.

In case you were wondering, the Capri is the purple slider on the far left, and the Canary, a clamshell that's pictured in gray here, is the Motorola Razr's thinner and smaller successor. And what do you know? Compared next to each other here, the Capri and Canary are just about the same size. So take your pick, slider or clamshell. You might want to take a look at this guy's site for dozens more pictures. But we're warning you, it's not exactly safe for work.

<![CDATA[ First Photos: Motorola Capri ]]> A prototype of the upcoming Motorola Capri slider cellphone has surfaced in exclusive photos obtained by Gizmodo. Not much new info was available beyond this set of pics, but as we speculated two months ago, the Capri bears a strong resemblance to the Motorola Razr, especially when viewed from the side.

About the same size as the Slvr, it will probably have a miniSD/TransFlash slot to store plenty of tunes. Rumor also adorns it with a relatively "high rez" camera, with a CCD said to be around 2.2 megapixels.

Special thanks to our secret spy who provided these first-look shots.

<![CDATA[ Samsung D900 Gets FCC Approval ]]> samsung_d900chazz.jpgLooks like this Samsung D900, billed as the world's thinnest slider handset, just got an affirmative nod from the FCC, so we might be seeing the svelte cellphone stateside sometime soon. Its main claim to fame is its 13mm thickness and 3-ounce weight. It's also capable of video recording and messaging using MPEG-4/H.263.

This one brings even more impressive specs to the slim-phone arena, including its 3-megapixel camera with 2.1-inch 262k 240x320 (QVGA) display. It also has a microSD card slot so you can put 2GB's worth of pics, video or tunes on it, and listen to them with stereo Bluetooth powered by a digital amplifier. There's even a TV-out port if you don't mind watching videos at 320x240.

So now we have three impossibly thin phones coming to the United States from Samsung in the coming weeks: the P900, billed as the world's thinnest phone, the candy bar-shaped/6.9mm-thin X820, and now this D900 slider. Whoa. Thin is in.

The LF-1200 from LG is a thin slider that is reminiscent of the LG "Chocolate" Phone that we mentioned back in February. The LF-1200 does have a couple stand-out features.
