    If they're going to make a claim like that, they should have specifics. I imagine that pretty much any phone could take a 9mm slug without full penetration (it's still gonna break the phone) if shot with a round that's designed not to penetrate. Try a Glaser Safety Slug or something loaded with sintered bullets such as Green Elite from ICC. Going further, if the claim didn't specify 9mm Parabellum you could use 9mm Kurz (aka .380) and further stack the deck.


    If you're gonna test this stuff, do it right. Get the manufacturer to specify the ammo, distance, etc. If they stack the deck right, they might well be making an accurate claim.

    @benenglish: An accurate claim on a stacked deck is still bullshit, that's why people typically hate/don't believe claims made in adverts.

    Ok, i'm very confused - The claim is that a Sonim can withstand a 9mm shot, so they took a SONY phone and shot it with a .22?

    @nutbastard: HIt the whole video. We shot the Sony phone as a 'benchmark' to see how a normal phone would hold up. The whole thing got a bit screwy when Sonim asked us not to shoot it with a 9mm. We should of stuck to our guns (pun intended).
