They look almost exactly the same.

There were a couple hints leading up to this. There was the patent for a mystery device that could browse the web and play back music—but also had a touchscreen. There was the rebranding of the Mylo into an Internet Device, which was strange to us at the time.

But why is Sony using the Mylo body to make a flash-based PSP that won't replace the PSP 3000? I have no idea. Maybe they felt bad for the only very lightly-used machines and molds they had for the Mylo and wanted to give them a purpose? [PSP Go]

<![CDATA[Pocket Spelling Bee Looks Suspiciously Familiar]]> Franklin's new Pocket Spelling Bee was unveiled at the NYC Toy Fair this week and despite its more than passing resemblance to the Sony Mylo, it appears to be a solid educational toy. The device allows kids to compete against one another or the computer in a spelling showdown for supremacy.

The Speaking Spelling Bee also features a 2" high-contrast LCD screen, the ability to play on the go or connect to the tv, clear speech and sound effects, the Merriam-Webster Intermediate Dictionary with over 70,000 words, the Merriam-Webster Intermediate Thesaurus and the Merriam-Webster Rhyming Dictionary. Pricing and availability have not been announced. [Franklin via Make]

<![CDATA[Sony Mylo 2 Gets Leaked?]]> QJ.net published a picture back in October that sheds some light on the Sony Mylo 2 FCC rumor we showed you yesterday. This older shot shows off the device's front side, which meshes with what we saw in the FCC docs—namely, a sliding body with rounded sides and a flattened top and bottom. We know a bit more about the Mylo than what's shown in qj.net's picture, but we can't comment on it yet. If this really is the Mylo, it shows an interesting design turn from the bulgy-looking first gen. [QJ]

<![CDATA[Sony Mylo 2 Handheld Communicator Keeps Sliding Form Factor, Adds Faster Wi-Fi]]> There isn't much to know just yet about the Sony Mylo 2, an update of the original Skype/Wi-Fi/Browser/Messaging tool that hit last year. What we do know is that it looks slightly more squarish than the original, it keeps the sliding form factor, adds a camera and has 802.11g as well as 802.11b. The only thing we'd tack on is some kind of 3G data connection so you wouldn't have to be in Wi-Fi range all the time, but that may be a dream best saved for Mylo 3. [Electronista]
