I dont know, but I have a feeling this will be more worth the high price than the Macbook Air. With a screen like that, it's going to be one sexy beast, and I don't give a rats ass if it fits in a stupid envelope.
I'd much rather have a 8-9" footprint, beyond that it could be an inch and a half thick, and if it came with the right specs I wouldn't give a rats ass about the thickness...
i remember when i saw the Sony Xperia at Dubai GITEX expo, i asked the lady how much will it cost, she said 1000 US dollars, i replied thats too expensive even compared to iPhone, she then said: "Well sir this is not for you its for businessmen"!!!
@medopal: Well good job comparing an unsubsidized price...
And the xperia is currently selling (unlocked) around or a little above $700, you should be able to get one for the same price as an iPhone 3G in <6mo with a similar contract...
@idoru: This is just how Sony is, whenever they launch a new segment they always release a "flag-ship" model at the extreme high end of the category first, then they release a bunch of lower end versions of the same thing for WAAAAAAY less money...
Playing catch with a glowing radioactive slab doesn't seem like a good idea. Judging by how loose those cuffs are on that gentleman's wrists, he's already lost significant weight to the cancers undoubtedly ravaging his organs.
He should stop throwing the nuclear notebook and get treated for radiation poisoning immediately.
@winmac: While I agree, they really aren't comparable products. They fit into very different segments.
On that note, I just bought a 13" Sony Vaio SR for under $1000 shipped, with better specs than a totally decked out $2000 13" Macbook. I really wanted the Macbook, but there was no way I could justify the cost.
@RobotVampire: I have two year old mid-range VAIO for my work machine, and it is friggin bullet proof. I was actually talking to my companie's main desktop support tech the other day and he says the VAIOs have a way lower hardware failure rate (rate=per capita) than the fleet of 20" iMacs that the design dept uses.
is it just me or are all the keys blank? I think that would make it kinda difficult to type, even though I don't look at the keyboard, it is still nice to have them stenciled on there for reference.
@Joe_TheRapist: Actually, tests have shown that people tend to type considerably faster on blank keyboards since it forces them to rely on their touch typing skills instead of glancing down on the keyboard.

How else to you expect Sony to keep costs down. They have to cut corners somewhere. Those letter decals on the keys are expensive.
