    This deal looked good to me, even got me in the store. Then I found out it's only on 46" and up screens.

    We agree with all the comments saying using MSRP is "normal" for calculating the "savings."

    There has to be a basis used...the MSRP is the only one that is "standard" across all the stores.

    However, who really cares what the "savings" really are? What is important is the price one has to pay.

    Why? Unless one is buying to resell at a profit, the "savings" are irrelevant. Buy what you can afford...OK, what you can afford at the best price.

    Wait...how do we know if we are getting the "best" price? What do they "normally" sell it at?

    Ahh..I guess this is why we are still interns...

    Free PS3, game and movie with purchase of normal price TV? Now I'm no huge fan of Sony, but even if you find a cheaper 46" inch and buy the extras seperate, it would probably cost about the same. And you would have a Sony vs a Westinghouse.

    Then again the only Sony product I bought in years is the reader, and while I like the product the support for it terrible, so my ideal bundle would be a Samsung, Xbox 360, and $150 bluray player.

    @thechansen: I don't think HD Guru or Jack Loftus are saying that the deal is bad and that you shouldn't go for it - they are just catching Best Buy in a lie. That's sort of the entire POINT of a free press. I keep seeing comments on this article to the same general point that you are making, that "it's still a good deal, so why complain?" but the fact is that Best Buy is misleading consumers and it's the job of the media (HD Guru, Giz, etc) to point that out and make sure people know.

    In my particular case, if I were in the market for an HD TV, I would probably jump at the $1100 savings deal, but I'd be much less interested in the actual deal they quote up there because it's only saving me around $50, which I could surely make up by shopping somewhere other than Best Buy, since they are already higher priced than many other retailers. Since I don't care about owning a PS3, really, the deal quoted in this article doesn't appeal to me.

    Using Bing Cashback, 15% on walmart.com, I just picked up a 120GB slim PS3 with an extra controller, Bluray remote, arkham asylum, infamous and the dark knight movie for $313 bucks plus some tax and free shipping with site to store.

    @Rejexted: Yeah, it's great. I was skeptical at first because it works only if you go through Bing's website to get to those sites. But once you are on the sites, there's no notification that you got the cashback. Bing says it takes 1-2 days to update your Bing account to reflect your savings so I took a shot and hoped it would work. After a few hours I got an email and the savings did indeed show up in my Bing cashback account. Also, for some reason, if you go to the bing.com/cashback site and look for participating retailers, some of the more reputable stores don't seem to show up (Walmart and Dell for example). But if you type in Dell cashback or walmart cashback in the bing search field, one of the sponsored links will get you there fine. Dell is 20% and walmart just changed from 15 to 20% as well.

    I always see if I can find out what the Minimum Advertised Price is for an item- MAP means way more than MSRP on anything.

    @dragon:ONE: You may be right, but its worse in Canada. Most stuff in general is 300 dollars less (ex. KDL-52V5100 is selling here at Future Shop - owned by BB - for 1799.99) however I bought my last two HDTVs (both Sony's) for amazing prices off Amazon; got one 50% off and the other 37%, not too bad but when you factor in our high dollar its a pretty good stinking deal ;).

    @flipnkraut: It might be a deal for you, but it's not the deal Best Buy are claiming it to be.

    While you might see it as getting a part of the package for free, you are not getting the $410 savings on the TV as advertised.

    And if you can't see that is a problem you are part of the reason Best Buy thinks they can get away with something like this.

    @RipRapRob: It's being sold as a bundle. If the cost of the bundle is less than if you were to buy each item individually, its a deal.

    Would it please you if instead of how they worded it to say buy this TV at retail and get a PS3, Bluray, and Ps3 game for free? Because that's pretty much whats going on with this.

    @Twanzio: I was just trying to stop the ALL women bashing, we arent ALL anything. This is not a new phenom to our generation either. Since Adam and Eve, men and women have had their differences, and personally, I wouldnt change it. Viva La Difference. :D

    I think it's more that after you put enough hours into these games, your save data is like an extension of yourself - if you evaluated it in terms of what you make per hour working, then even at minimum wage, this would be a tremendous loss, even not counting the emotional investment in it.

    So the girl sees it as a toy the guy spends too much time on her and smashes it. The guy sees it as a direct personal attack, like if she had poisoned or stabbed him.

    Personally, I don't think it's worth the risk of getting close to someone that unhinged. If a guy plays games and ignores his girlfriend she's well within her rights to leave. If she'd make a big deal about staging the destruction of one of your main hobbies... she's crazy. Get out of the house. Run for it. You don't want to be around someone that irrational.

    The console is not a penis. Even Freud (is attributed to have?) said "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar." The world is not made up of penis analogs.
