CES is the one time each year where a company can make an announcement and grab everyone's attention. For that reason, many/most CES products announcemented at CES are not available immediately; one must wait any number of weeks -- and even months -- before the product ships.
@Dacker: I doubt anybody thinks early '09 is going to be a time to start racking up sales, given that job losses are predicted to much higher for the next 2 quarters. Hence I disagree that plan all along was to announce in January.
what can sony surprise the whole world with? Not to be cocky or anything, but Apple already came up with the neat stuff and I can't possibly think of any more innovative things that sony could have cooked up.
