I like my Zune HD. It's not perfect, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons. It's nice to have subscription music, since I listen to quite a bit of music and am always looking for more.
Sorry though, I don't give out my Zune card. #steveballmer
@Identity (reclamation): if u like subscription service so much u can get rhapsody on the iphone only prob is it requires internet everytime you listen to music. #steveballmer
@richillion: No thanks, I already have a smart phone and don't like my music tied to a device that's primary function (in my case) is not music. #steveballmer
While better than Zune 1 or 2, it is still second rate for a premium price. And really, how many of you are planing on plugging a PMP into your TV to watch a movie? That's what your XBox/PS/AppleTV/DVD player is for. Not your PMP.
(sorry, edited with the correct video of the side-by-side)
@dallasmay: Wow, nice video that shows nothing other than loading a webpage. I mean, because that's what PMP's are all about, right? I mean, it's absolutely ridiculous to watch movies on your tv from a PMP, but internet browsing? Oh yeah. I love buying expensive devices to browse the internet when I already have a smartphone and a laptop. I mean the clarity I can get on something I only have to hold 2 inches away from my head is ridiculous. Imagine if I had to hold my laptop up to my face! Ha!
Zune sucks! All it does is play music, videos, podcasts, pictures, browse the internet, offers simple games, and is shiny! Man, didn't they get the memo that no one like PMP's anymore?? Especially with OLED touchscreens. I mean, who would actually want to be able to see the screen from any other angle than directly looking at it??? that's crazy talk... And vivid colors? Psssh, the pictures on my monitor of the Zune HD don't look very good, so it must not have bright colors! Ha, they are soooooooo failll #steveballmer
@Identity (reclamation): wow... struck a nerve didn't I. I must have forgotten than 2009 is the year that it is taboo to critique MS.
But really, all I did was post a video of a side by side comparison of two competing products. You can decide for yourself what that video says about the Zune. For me it says that it doesn't match what is available from other companies. It's nothing personal if you were suckered into buying one.
BTW, if you have a smartphone, why do you also need a PMP? Can't your smartphone do everything this Zune can and more -like make a phone call? #steveballmer
@dallasmay: I actually watch movies when I'm at my girlfriend's house on her TV via my Zune. I'd have to burn the movies to dvd otherwise and it makes it so much more convenient. #steveballmer
@dallasmay: I was bored, so I felt like rambling. And yes, my smartphone can do many things, including music. But having a dedicated music device is great when I want to listen to music for several hours without my phone's battery running out. #steveballmer
@Identity (reclamation): I agree with you completely. And not at all with dallasmay. I was not "blown away" by the fact that it had HD in its name. It has what I need, from listening to music with what I feel is a good feeling GUI (I mean, I thought listening to music and the occasional video were what Personal Media Players were all about). The iTouch (you know, the one that didn't even have a 32gb option but still cost like $300 at 16gb [correct me if I'm wrong]).
I also love the idea of streaming 720p video to my 55" Samsung LED LCD flatscreen. Though I do think that the dock is overpriced and I am waiting (hoping) they will either lower the price or a different company will make one. #steveballmer
@Identity (reclamation): ''Zune sucks! All it does is play music, videos, podcasts, pictures, browse the internet, offers simple games, and is shiny! ''
You are either a fanboy or a complete idiot. Either way this sentence only made you look so bad hahaha #steveballmer
@mexi1010: I also am waiting a while for the dock. It looks nice, but it's a little too expensive for my liking right now.
@dave.delrio: You're "with Identity?" That sounds like a psychological problem. :) I kid. The HD is surprisingly light though. Almost unnaturally so.
@Aztronot: I happen to be neither. I was just bored and wanted to ramble. I believe it is called sarcasm though.
@encumpiableg: I don't doubt that at all. However, I am quite paranoid about my phone not being able to get ahold of someone if need be, and I never let my phone get below 20% battery, (unless I am draining it purposely so that it can charge completely). I use my phone's browser quite heavily, and will usually just make it a day with 20% battery left over. #steveballmer
They're lucky in that most technology companies don't get a 3rd try. If you don't get it the first try you're done, finito. The only reason they get a 2nd and third and fourth...is that they have their OS monopoly for support.
Eventually, they will run out of all that goodwill.#steveballmer
If you got it right the third time, I'd be walking into a shop thats based in london and buying one over the counter. So in my eyes you failed! #steveballmer

@Jelly_Jiggler: I love soup… I’m just worried about weather or not it will crash my system. Will I need to start buying toilot paper in bulk? #steveballmer
Hey, lighten up. I think the MS team did a good job. And Ballmer's a stand up guy for coming out and admitting that it's a process. Lighten up, man! They've had some good products. Cut them some slack!
Alright, good. That should do it. As promised, here's the Zune HD you get for talking me up on Giz. Wait. Stop that. Don't type that, you idiot! You're supposed to stop after that last paragraph! I swear, if you don't stop typing, I'll kill you! I will cut out your fucking throat and eat it with barbecue sauce! You little bastar
@dallasmay: I'm sorry, I didn't hear your response on account of I was murdered in the second paragraph.
When someone tells you they got murdered, you should probably take their entire comment seriously. Especially the parts about defending Zunes. #steveballmer
It seems like admitting to the shortcomings of previous versions would be beneficial in convincing people to upgrade further. Not admitting it about Vista makes sense, it was an OS that they had been making for years, you don't want to admit that you can screw it up. Admitting that the Zune HD is a huge improvement, though, basically says those ones you bought were before we got it right, now we have got it right, so upgrade to this one.
Basically it doesn't take the product out of the sales cycle, it just makes the sales cycle more effective. #steveballmer
@cdick133: There's also the fact that Vista... really wasn't much of a screw up. Most of the problems it had at launch had a lot to do with vendor support and a bit less to do with the OS itself. There were some compatibility flaws as well, but as the updates were released it became a lot better. #steveballmer
@Thee Sea: Yeah, my thought process lead to that coming out wrong. It was more a comment on why saying Vista failed, and Windows 7 fixed wouldn't have the same positive effect that that strategy would have on the Zune. #steveballmer
@Thee Sea: Well that is certainly debatable. That would be like a manager of a business saying that the companies failure was not his fault, it was the fault of his lower employees.
Since the OS's primary job is to make sure that all of the vendors and drivers work nicely together, one could argue that Vista's screw up was in fact Vista's fault. #steveballmer
@dallasmay: ...No, not in the least. In fact, the only way you could say that is if you somehow thought that nvidia and ATI were both subsidiaries of Microsoft. The fact is that nvidia and ATI were the ones pushing bad product here. #steveballmer
@RickAKATed10: Absolutely have to agree with this. Like all media players, it had its problem (I recall the days of the iPod screen cracking epidemic) but the Zune was otherwise a very solid piece of hardware with some great software running underneath. #steveballmer
@Thee Sea: Finally, people that feel the same as I do about the Zune. The only reason that I got an HD was because I broke my 1st gen. one. Besides it being huge it worked great. #steveballmer
@maven2k: I love my Zunes. I have all three generations. I have no hate for the iPods, I just liked the Zune better. The Zune HD at least makes me think they won't go extinct. #steveballmer
@Bigbadbikernerd: Inner fanboy! Sheeeeeeeeeeitttttttt (from The Wire season 4). You own 3 generations of Zune pmp's... can't get much more fanboy than that no? #steveballmer
@imTheKing: Yes, and no. Once I chose Zune, I really didn't want to change since I already had accessories for the first one. The second one I won in a contest for Pepsi (8GB love it). The Zune HD was just too exciting not to buy.
I'm just a gadget nerd.
Oh, and just so you don't think I'm a complete MS fanboy, I think Windows Mobile is a steaming pile of monkey dung....with cheese. #steveballmer
@Bigbadbikernerd: No I'm just playing. I know your posts enough to know your not haha. I actually wanted the Zune HD but with no OSX support, its hard to justify the purchase. As for WinMo.... yes its a huge pile of steaming dung. #steveballmer
Isn't that kind of stupid placing the hot soup above the rider? I mean a couple of large bumps with the right timing and the rider gets scalded scalp soup.....
@Monty: You want a piece of ass, go to Hollywood Boulevard. You want an adrenaline rush that'll be two large. You want number 24, choose egg roll or wonton soup!
