I think one of the best ST moments was when Q brought Picard back to primordial earth to witness the failing of the first amino acids to coalesce. Man I love TNG.
@ryaninc: Do it. The series is a bit pricey, even on Amazon (about $260 for the entire set), but I've now watched my set entirely twice, making it a great dollars-per-hour value. Just watch out for the overseas knockoff versions; some of Amazon's secondary sellers have bogus sets for sale that come in what looks to be spiffy packaging but is absolutely fake.
Interesting. I note that, once you get past that one gigantic bright yellow solar flare in the opening credits, everything just kind of turns all grey and dull. Still, I must say I was a huge fan of Jeri Ryan's enormous...er...heheh...I meant to say, of course, the series itself. (HEY! I may be gay but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate technological constructs of cantilevered perfection).
Anyway, despite its flaws, for me Voyager remains a worthy and entertaining entry into the Star Trek universe.
Voyager had the best opening credits and score of all the series. The CGI of Voyager passing thru a gas cloud and reflecting off a planet's rings were spectacular, especially for the time.
@EBone: Don't forget the variable nacelle activation, which made that part of the sequence oh so much better.
IIRC, in the DS9 open, the asteroid flyby sequence was only supposed to be like 6 seconds. But they were so impressed w/the job the effects company did, they extended the sequence and added more of it.
Jeri Ryan was the only reason that show stayed on for more than 5 episodes. I wouldnt be shocked if they were considering episodes where she decided her dream was to become a beach life gaurd.
@DirtyHippy: Funny, I thought with each new series after TNG they kept getting worse, which would put Enterprise as the lowest point. But, whatever -- it was all downhill after the Borg TNG episodes.
@SpaceBatCowboy_GitEmSteveDave: Aren't you forgetting the one (and only) appearance of that awesome phaser rifle Kirk whipped out in his first episode to use against Gary Mitchell...
But seriously, Voyager wasn't that bad. The only thing that pisses me off more than V'ger hate is DS9 hate. Why? It was a damn good series. None had a better supporting character as DS9 did w/Garack. Except for Ezri Dax, there really wasn't a bad character on the whole series. But I digress. OK, everyone flame me now.
@Kaiser-Machead: Voyager was a good follow up to DS9. DS9 wasn't really that great for me because it wasn't about going places, it was about sitting there and having people come to you. It got old. Voyager was great because they reintroduced the adventure into it. Sure, some of the characters were a bit flat but it got back to the spirit of the original.
@SpaceBatCowboy_GitEmSteveDave: But Dax was hot! I know she was supposed to be an old man but she was hot. Too bad I can't post pics because most would agree. Good looks have been trumping acting ability since the beginning of time. Pam Anderson, Jessica Simpson, Cindy Crawford etc.
@Maori_Yelir: See, I liked that aspect of DS9. It was nice having a varied cast of civilians and military. I mean, we never got deep into Mott or that guy who was the bartender/waiter on TNG. But you had Garack, Quark, Rom, etc... on DS9, who spiced things up a little bit. You also had the Defiant, which was a good addition, plus the "red shirt" shuttle craft, which they used to go to many places.
@SpaceBatCowboy_GitEmSteveDave: Completely agree. The Doctor is near the top of the list for Star Trek characters, and DS9 has some absolutely fantastic episodes. Hell, I even like Enterprise.
@Segador: I think Enterprise is one of the only Trek series that I'm not the biggest fan of. I just happen to like Sub-Commander T'Pol.
@Maori_Yelir: What I really loved about DS9 was that it was more like an alien hub, where just about every criminal warlord and the sort passed through the former-Cardassian space station. It had its own feel apart from the rest of the Trek series that I really enjoyed immensely.
And I completely agree on the Voyager doctor. He was by far my favorite character on the show.
@TerryinSt.Paul: Jadzia was hot. Ezri was cute in an impish/elf way.
@Maori_Yelir: All I kept thinking was, "Damn, Red is being an asshole messing with the timeline. Can't he bother Eric or something?"
@Segador: Doc Zimmerman(how he was originally named) was an awesome character, and they really used him to some good lengths(minus bringing in Andy Dick). The one where he had a breakdown was good.
@Kaiser-Machead: @Segador: That's how you know it was a human that invented the decon. Let's make people disrobe, but be sure to include windows.

Kirk < Sisko < Picard < 7of9.
I know. I know. 7of9 wasn't a captain/commander but she was the main reason why ppl watched Voyager.
