I've said this a few times before, it won't be long until pico projectors on cell phones are as ubiquitous as cameras on cell phones are now. 4 years maybe.
I'm running this build now (actually typing this comments while using it). The new UI menu tweaks looks really well done with the dock. It actually makes the dock more unified all together. I wanted to upload a screen shot a took but i keep getting an error... anyone else having this problem?
Overall i think they will add a few more UI tweaks to the completed OS but i don't think it will have a new theme all together. It would be nice if they added an option to let us tweak the OS a bit like Candybar does, but native in the OS.
The question is which OS will win the airwaves? Apple can be counted on to spare no expense; will MS wise up and be willing to shell out $100mill on ads.
@OMG! Ponies!: Microsoft hasn't spent any money advertising Windows itself in years (the recent Laptop Hunter ads don't even mention Windows), yet they still have 92%+ of the market, and that's with Apple's full on advertising barrage directly attacking PCs and Windows at every turn, a ton of product placements (did you know Britain's MI-5 uses iMacs exclusively? According to the BBC tv show "Spooks", they do) and most mainstream media acting like Apple's free advertising departments.
Does Microsoft *really* need to 'win the airwaves' when they've won the market?
Not really. And with Win7, even a simple ad campaign would pretty much cover it.
Isnt it obvious? it even sounds similar: Macbook-Netbook
Apple's gonna release a Macbook using an Atom 330 and a 9400M (ION) as an inexpensive answer to the netbook craze (since the Air is still too expensive). Its going to have a 10' screen and no optical drive.
I would love to see it going for $499 or less, but I doubt it will be below $699, since after all we are talking about an Apple product.
Anyway, a Tablet? yeah, because tablets are all the rage right now! Have you ever seen any tablet becoming popular? anywhere?
I think Apple might go back to how they used to have it with the iBooks/PowerBooks. We might see the same hardware as the current MacBook in a 15" case.
@Dafrety: Only problem with that is that the base 15" Pro has the identical graphics equipment, and is not that much more expensive than what they were charging for the black Macbook. I think there may be too much overlap if they did that, but who knows.
Maybe 14"? Seems too small a difference, but anything's possible.
@MacAttack7388: So basically, nano-ize the line. The first iPod nano was essentially in the same position with only 2 color options, then went a full spectrum when they moved to aluminum.
Also, I think I agree with your assessment, Matt. Right now, there's way too many Pros, but just the same, I don't know if there'll be a big change in "Macbook", but rather an increase in different Macbooks with suffixes, like the Air, and possibly 2 or more different types, though I'm not sure how well that'll go.
@Kaiser-Machead: And, they (Apple) have specifically said that they are looking for a product announcement with which to announce Jobs' return... Which, should be any week now really.
It would've gotten a lot more attention had Apple kept the matte black option. My guess: had Apple kept the blackbook, and gave it the latest C2D and NVidia 9400M graphics, it would've murdered the sales of the unibody Macbook, and possibly continue to eat out of the 13" Pros.
@Kaiser-Machead: It's funny, just last week I saw a refurbished black macbook with the the same specs (including a glossy screen) as the newly refreshed white one (for the same price too). I thought that was weird.
If this guys is right and all Apple does is just give the iPhone a bullshit speed bump and more memory after a year, i'll be joining the Pre line soon. Why would they bump the speed if the freggin thing can't multi task any freggin way. A freggin $600 phone that can't multi task is a freggin joke, even if AT&T pays the other $300 for you.

Iphone, iPOD, et al drive me crazy. The worst, though: iTouch.

I tweaked the UI to match that style myself. But after a fresh install it will have all gone away.
This would be the perfect time for Apple to finally unify the look completely.

Add a splash of color to the MacBook line. It will make the aluminum ones seem more professional, and the entry ones more "fun".
White, black, green, pink, red, blue, etc.
Why not? If they don't plan to replace it, add color to it!
