But when they add one to an Oral-B electric toothbrush, you know things won't end well.

I like how they justify it:

There is time date stamp for the record, you can get the most authentic evidence for a variety of illegal behaviour. Ideal for CIA agents, police, detector, and spy agency.

That sounds about right, because we all know that CIA agents shop in Chinese crapware sites. The $243 Pinhole Spy Toothbrush Hidden Camera DVR records 640x480 video in AVI format, using its internal 8GB flash memory. According to their product site, it looks exactly like a real electric toothbrush. It also looks like a whole bag of hurt to me. [Omejo]

<![CDATA[Coke Zero Has Zero Calories and Sugar, But Is High In Spy Cameras]]> This realistic-looking can of Coke Zero isn't filled with a refreshing, low calorie soda—it's actually a 4GB spy cam DVR that can capture footage in VGA (640×480) resolution.

The can also has a wireless remote, rechargeable battery and a false bottom that hides a USB port and the on/off switch. It looks pretty convincing, but I'm less impressed by the '80s-looking version of Coke "Clossic". [ChinaGrabber via Technabob via DVICE]

<![CDATA[Mini MP3 DV Cam Gives The iPod Shuffle Video Capability]]> While leaving video out of the iPod touch had everyone up in arms, nobody expected Apple to add a camcorder to the shuffle. Leave it to the Chinese to fill that enormous void with the Mini MP3 DV Cam.

Of course, even the miniest of mini camcorders cannot be crammed into the shell of an existing shuffle, so Xiangyun Industry Co did the sensible thing and sacrificed the music player to focus on transforming the device into a spy camera. Features include a 1.3 megapixel sensor with VGA resolution and the ability to capture 1,280 x 960 still photos. Not bad for $15-$30, but you are going to need to outfit an entire spy ring if you want to get your hands on one. Orders are only taken in bulk with a 100 unit minimum. <![CDATA[Tissue Box Spy Camera Watches You as You Wipe Your Snot]]> Ignorance is bliss, but if you reeaaally want to know what goes on behind the scenes, this tissue-box spy camera will catch those moments: hopefully the good, not the bad, and definitely not the gross.

You can set the tissue box to record when scheduled, to be motion-triggered or to be controlled by remote control. The timestamped video is recorded onto a 2GB SD card (which is upgradable to 16GB) at a resolution of up to 720×480 pixels, even in low-light situations. So if you have a whopping $600, head on over to possibly catch your maid stealing or, most likely, just to find somebody playing around with their nose cooties. [Brickhouse via Boing Boing]

<![CDATA[Third Eye Video Camera Is Perfect For Spies, Other Surreptitious Recording]]> Hello comrade. How are you. Oh this? This is not a $300 Third Eye Video camera that lasts 2.5 hours on a charge. I just have an unfortunate birth defect. [Hammacher via BBG]

<![CDATA[$20,000 Spy Camera Disguised as Garbage Thrown Out With The Trash]]> A spy camera hidden in a black bag beside a notorious UK "fly-tipping" (or illegal waste dumping in the King's English) hot spot was recently thrown out by local workers with the other garbage. Apparently, this operation was so top secret that the workers in question did not need to know the details before being sent off to pick up the trash. To make matters worse, the camera has been valued at somewhere between $14 and $20,000. Basically, its just a hilarious waste of taxpayer money illustrated using equally hilarious British terminology. [Telegraph via Digg]

<![CDATA[Pennycam Captures Convenience Store Thieves, Penny Pinchers]]> I know how it is with you man—you see that "Take-a-Penny, Leave-a-Penny" tray and it is all "take, take, take!" Well your days of penny pinching are over now that SteathVue has developed their Pennycam. What they have done is to embed a security camera inside the tray that relays upward angled video to a DVR using a standard BNC cable. Obviously, Pennycam is intended to capture clearer (500 x 582 resolution) images of thieves that try and obscure their face from overhead cameras—and it seems to work pretty well based on the footage in the following demo video.

The Pennycam is powered by a 12V adapter and is fairly inexpensive at only $199. [StealthVue via Gizmag via SlipperyBrick]

<![CDATA[Surveillance Camera Software Blurs the Faces of the Innocent]]>
Advanced video surveillance cameras that discreetly examine each face or vehicle that comes into frame are becoming more commonplace in big cities and large corporations. These cameras are equipped with intelligence algorithms that can distinguish the face, vehicle or license plate of a wanted criminal and alert the proper authorities when necessary. However, innocent people often get involved in these recordings simply because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. A video analysis company named 3VR is now attempting to change all that.

3VR is tweaking their software to automatically blur the faces of individuals that do not pique the cameras' interest, thereby protecting the privacy of innocent individuals. The footage could still be unencrypted by authorized parties, but any changes would be trackable, so there would be a record to follow in the event that that the footage is misused. So, in effect, the software watches the people watching you. [Danger Room]

<![CDATA[CAM-007 Touted as "Worlds Smallest Camcorder, Spycam"]]> While I cannot definitively confirm that the CAM-007 is the world's smallest commercial camcorder spycam (see exhibit A and exhibit B), the self-contained device does clock in at a minuscule 0.3"x0.9"x0.5" and it boasts a fairly impressive feature set that includes both audio and video recording, MPEG-4 3 GP at 15fps, a built-in rechargeable lithium ion battery that recharges via USB (up to 2 hours of recording), and Micro SD up to 2GB with room for approx. 19 hours of video on a 1GB card. Available for $349. [Product Page]

<![CDATA[Security Camcorder Clock: Motion Activated, Only Records Fast Sex By Default]]>

Although this Security Camcorder Clock won't transmit video over power lines and is not water-proof like the WiLife Spy Cam, it can be activated when it detects any movement to record 320 x 240 pixel full motion video files AVI files. Then, these files can be transferred to your computer using the included USB cable.

The only bad thing is that this $180 spy gadget will only record 12 minutes with its built-in 64 memory, so whatever security thing you have to record, you better do it fast. Fortunately, it has an SD slot, so you can buy 4GB card and record enough material to open your own homegrown porn video site.

<![CDATA[Hidden Camera Pillow Spies on the Babysitter]]> What makes for a better housewarming present than a spy camera shoved inside a pillow? Nothing we can think of.

The hidden camera pillow uses the crowded 2.4GHz range to broadcast video from the pillow to your receiver, and is only one of 71 different items with a spy camera shoved inside. It's too bad this spy pillow only runs for 12 hours on its one rechargeable battery pack though, or else you'd totally get lots of great footage before you were arrested.

<![CDATA[Self Guard Spy System]]> This thing looks kind of dopey but let's give it a chance. It's a video and audio recording system that looks like a button. Attach it to your blazer, run the wire up to the little handheld storage system, and record a few hours of super-secret spy stuff onto a RS-MMC. Does it look believable? I suppose so, but I'd suspect an eagle-eyed counter-spy would see through your ruse immediately and put you on a big table with a laser that will cut you in half. So then you'll be about the $670 this Korean devices costs AND you'll be cut in half. Bummer.
