I see this thing being just a shade under $600 for the baseline, unless there's some major price reduction. I don't think that's in the cards for this thing.
Yes! Look at all the USB ports, guys! No need to worry about the fact that it lacks a standard display port. Yup, no need to focus on that. Nothing to see here! Please keep moving along.
If that's Apple's new direction of proprietary bullshit then that's it.
"Oh you have a DVI monitor? Well, unless you get a $3000 Mac Pro than you'll have to purchase a $100 adapter to make it compatible with any other machine...."
"Are you serious!?!?! Wait. You know what? Don't answer that. I don't want to know. I'm leaving."
@madog: Unlike the mini-DVI, the displayport is an open license port, which means that manufacturers other than Apple will be sporting these, and other manufacturers will be making dongles and adapters as well, so it's not quite proprietary. Anyone can use it, and it's already begun in the Dell Adamo.
I like it, firewire 800 port is a cool addition, and the 5 ports will be good for lots of people, but without some other kind of overhaul or major feature (media center or something) it still suffers from the same flawed business model as the last mac mini: it's too expensive to really attract switchers to it over the iMac.
Im shocked no one pointed out the obvious... WTF with no VGA port. I know you can get a adapter, I have a slew, but the thing with the mini was it was designed to just let you use your old stuff.
I sure hope its packaged in and not a extra 20 bucks that people dont realize until they get it home.
Being a desktop, it better come with at least one of those connection adapters for the display, since you have no choice but to use one, unlike the laptops. Also, this phasing out of FW400 is strange. I guess 800 is ok, but I'm sure you'd need a faster drive than the standard 5,400 RPM drives that current mini's presently ship with, though 7,200's may end up being available when this drops.

You have a new Mac Mini and a crappy camera that takes blurry photos. So why not go ahead and capture all angles?

Firewire 400 to 800 is as simple as a cable.
