I haven't been shocked by static buildup, but many years ago on the old CRT-based iMacs, I once wiped some dust off the screen while wearing earbuds plugged into the PC... YOWCH!

...then I immediately got a few of my friends in the same computer lab to try it, hehe

My old car is so insulated it shocks me all the time when getting out I had to buy a static discharge keychain to stop be getting the shocks, but it used to attack my old Shuffle all the time. Luckily, only once did the shock through my earbuds actually cause the Shuffle to turn itself off, and scared me that it broke.

This is not unique to Apple's earbuds (which are junk nonetheless); anyone who's worn earbuds on a cold dry day in January has experienced shocks from earbuds.
