So is steampunk basically a synonym for "Victorian"? Because I would imagine for something to be steampunk, it would have to involve steam (or faux steam machinery) and a punk element of some kind.
@closhedbb: Not _everything_ has to be steam-driven. This, in particular, would be human-powered by design, so there's no need for the keyboard itself to have any steam-powered component, unless that's how it would be designed to transmit the commands to the steam-powered computer.
It probably has enough metal to fend off random steampunk zombies or being the ultimate steampunk Clue board game accessory. Worth 1k? No. Don't we have better things to do / spend money on?
When i first looked at it.... i thought that it was set up so that you'd be sitting basically on the inside of the curve (or in a much easier way of putting it.... at the right side of the pic). Just started thinking "uuh.... i think they got the wrong concept of something being "ergonomic" cause that looks uncomfortable as HELL!". Then i realised that it's set up so you're sitting at the left side of the pic, and thought "well.... at least it follows the ergonomic key setup, but with that massive wrist/palm rest... it looks even MORE uncomfortable than if one were to use it from the other side."
A long time ago, I operated a Western Union Telex machine to transmit messages arund the world, and the keyboard looked very much like this one. I had to strike the keys hard enough to punch holes in a tape and have been abusing keyboards with heavy keystrokes ever since.

Maybe my etymology is off...

It just is going downhill, for some reason! Does it have an inclined base? I that what she commissioned?
