Andy Samberg can't fail. His name alone guarantees success. You've got, "sam" which is short for samwich, something everybody loves. Plus you've got "berg" as in hamberger, also something everybody loves.

What are all these red underlines?

@Thorax707: You are correct in that Andy can't fail. But, a little known factoid: Samberg is actually the name of a floating mountain of arctic ice shaped like Samuel L. Jackson. Andy took the name in homage to Jackson.

I don't mean to be a Pixartard, if this even exists, but when I see all the other animation studios' work, I can't help but think that Pixar is so compelled to actually tell a story, with will, beauty and feel. They're not just making a cartoon via computer graphics. They get so much from japanese animation, philosophy and life. Dreamworks and all the others have a lot to learn with them.

By the way, I recommend Up to each and every single soul who reads this, for it is a beautiful, amazing story.

@TheAlmeida: While I certainly enjoy Pixar's movies, and can know I am going to enjoy the movie because I trust their work, I rarely think of their movies as my favorites. Don't get me wrong, Up was great, but I don't give it extra points because it is a tear-jerker. As far as other studio's projects? Iron Giant remains perfect in my eye.

@Lizard_King: If it was a normal movie, and it was a tear jerker, big deal, right? But it is a computer generated graphics movie tear jerker.
Never before there was a CGI movie with this emotional depth. Even among Pixar's. The movie deals with old age, spontaneous abortion, true love, incomplete life goals, divorce, death... Death.
I dare to say that never before a computer generated character was able to surpass the acting of a carbon based (average) actor. But no.
Mr. Frederickson kicked the butt of half of Hollywood actors with his performance on screen. And he doesn't even exist.

I think I'm biased, but c'mon, Pixar has surpassed Wall-E, this is a fucking huge deal of a movie, not in the technical way, but in the dramatical sense!

@TheAlmeida: I'd agree if it wasn't for the laugh-riot-sidekick-fat-boyscout and the laugh-riot-dog-who-talks and the laugh-riot-bird-which-does-really-funny-things-all-of-the-time.

Point being, it WAS a really serious drama turned slapstick for the younger people in the audience. Because of this demographic need, their movies will always be just short of epic.

But, I agree, IF companies like Pixar wanted to make a serious, indi-grade, drama they could. They just don't see any money in it.

@FrankenPC: I beg to differ, because one of the things I was going to say is that Up is an universal movie. The jokes are appealing to childs and adults alike. Me and my gf laughed everytime the children laughed too.
The loud thoughts of canine personality were spot on, and the pathetic sidekick, while a cliché, is both a metaphor and antithesis for modern kids. Russel is an indoor kid turned boyscout. While making part of a generation of videogames and branding, he still wants free, but bears the inevitable traces of being such. He is fruit from separated parents, obesity, and lonelyness - and is searching for himself as much as Mr. Frederickson.

@TheAlmeida: Oh, I LOVED the movie. Sorry if you got the impression I wasn't a huge fan of Pixar movies. The question is: is it dramatic art? Answer: no. By design.

I read this in the LA times the other day:

"You can’t [manufacture a viral video] because so many elements of luck and charm go into making something that doesn’t feel like you’re selling something."

Seems to ring true right here. The rock cutaways were a good touch, though.

Two things: One, this is a great idea, as I don't think I can convince my wife that I deserve a $100+ controller just for my fighting games. The only trouble I see with this is that most good fighting sticks have some decent weight to them, so you don't through the controller around while throwing fire balls, and two: I love the word "sammich." That is all.

You could also pick up the fairly decent Hori Fighting stick that retails for pretty much the same price, and can even be upgraded later on with better sticks and/or buttons for ultimate fighting dominance.
