Honestly this kind of stuff is usually more hassle than its worth. In my experience, it is either pretty complicated to set up or never really works 100% as its supposed to. Just reinstall, unless there is some specific stuff that you really need
I know that they do something similar for Windows, but I thought it only transfered docs and pics. It may have been an older version of XP, though. What about if you buy a new computer with Vista, can you transfer apps too (either from another Vista box, or from XP)?
Frooch--The Mac community has a long tradition of supporting its independent developer base. While we've got free alternatives to all the stuff that you mention, and other people identify them here, when someone goes out of their way to differentiate their product and put that "Mac-level" of polish that we expect on something, we feed them. Independent developers like Panic, KavaSoft, Atebits, and Delicious are the guys that make us love our Macs by doing things Windows/-nix developers, for whatever reason (I have some theories), don't bother to do. Our guys show us time and again that they are the best and yet are always pushing themselves to give us something better. And as the Mac platform continues to pull away from the competition, I'm more than happy to support that.
I find enough free apps for my MacBook Pro, but... if you like upgrading your apps, you WILL buy every new version of OS X when it comes out, because you'll find that backward compatibility... isn't. When a new OS comes out, it's like 90% of the software out there absolutely has to have the newest version or it won't run.
Pretty much every cons are non-issue, specially from someone coming from the PC side.
Not being able to drag and drop between spaces!? Not an issue on the PC, cause you don't even have this very nice feature.
Photpshop rotates your picture on the multi touch!? Not an issue on the PC, cause there's no multi touch to worry about!
Function options burry too deep!? You mean you can get things tweaked easier on the PC without touching the registry!
Problem with Growl!? Again, do you even have anything similar on the PC? Wait, could it be the Vista UAC?
No freeware!? Well, as pointed out by many others, you just didn't look hard enough.
After taking all these no-issue issue out seems like all you have a praising the MAC for doing a better job when working with your XBox.
One of the most important issue is how many times did you have to shut down or restart your MAC in the last month just to make it work? For me, that's the biggest difference between a PC and a MAC. When I fire up my MAC I go straight to work, when I fire up my PC, most of the time I have to fiddle around, reboot, update, restart, before I can start working.
@cobbe1: I never understand this comment. And I bet most apple fani bois never had to run System 7. I have five PCs currently in my possession. One ran over a year without a reboot (aside from update/install reboots and those happen every 6 weeks or so). Another has never had a BSOD in three years of ownership. I used to run a design studio that was 70% Mac. Anyone who ran Adobe products rebooted multiple times daily on the Mac side. I haven't worked too much in OSX (because it too the flagship product -- Quark -- YEARS to upgrade) over the past few, so things may have gotten better. But people who complain about frequent reboots shouldn't be pointing fingers at hardware.
'For $20 I bought Connect 360 and it was working in 3 minutes'
I too had an issue with Windows Media Player connecting to my Xbox. But after downloading Tversity for FREE, I got everything connected in a few minutes and my PC only cost me $500
@rambo3060: I still don't understand how I keep hearing people having problems trying to connect their PC to their Xbox. This issue happened to my cousin and I offered to help him. I asked him to show me step by step on what he needs to do and in the end, everything worked fine. He would say "Oh because you're here now." Oookay. Glad to be of help.
There are a lot of free apps for the Mac. You're not looking hard enough--CyberDuck is a great FTP client and it's free to use (although they do ask for donations).
@MelanieCato: Seriously, the author should have done more research before posting that. There are tonnes more freeware for OS X than for Windows. Many of them more powerful too since they were ported from Unix with a nice OS X wrapper.
And you have to admit OSX beats XP for ease of use, you can't deny that at all. Linux is not mainstream yet, but getting close. Is the Mac hardware worth it? I don't know yet. I have a 13" Mac Book on order, it gets here in a few days, I couldn't stand the "all one button" trackpad in the aluminum Macbooks. I just disagree when someone switches to a Macbook because of viruses. it really is that easy for people to get infected? Seriously?

Why don't they sell this separately for Windows users?

not a bad deal. Not that I would pony up $100 for parallels, but for those with the specific need it seems justifiable.
