But what comes next? For most, it's 4G wireless data. For T-Mobile, it's steroid-pumped 3G, to the tune of 21Mbps.

AT&T and others are kicking 3G to the curb after it hits the 7.2Mbps barrier, and moving over to zany 4G technologies. T-Mobile, though, says they're sticking with 3G HSPA for the foreseeable future, and that the network will carry near-4G speeds in 2010.

This is good news for T-Mo subscribers in the short term, and I can see why the company would want to incrementally push past all their competitors while they all toil with next-gen hardware and infrastructure. But what happens when everyone else is finished rolling out their LTE networks? Where does that leave T-Mobile, besides three years behind? [MocoNews via Electronista]

<![CDATA[Leaked Memo Shows T-Mobile's Next 3G Cities]]> TmoNews has what looks like an internal T-Mobile newsletter outlining 3G expansion plans for a few dozen medium-to-large cities in the coming year. Congrats to Cleveland, Nashville, Tucson and... Brownsville? [TmoNews]

<![CDATA[T-Mobile's 3G Will Probably Launch October 1. Probably.]]> We've been hearing many different dates for T-Mobile's 3G rollout, but the latest one (October 1) seems to be a more solid date. Solid, that is, if you consider a lousy 8.5x10 printout taped to a wall outside a meeting room found by TmoNews to be solid. Nevertheless, October 1 seems to be the target date as of now, and we'll update when we hear more. [Tmonews]

<![CDATA[T-Mobile 3G Nationwide Launch Oct. 1st?]]> TmoNews has an anony-tip that they'll be firing up their 3G network in those 20+ top markets on Oct. 1. The rumor's fairly squishy, but it's not totally whack—T-mo promised to roll out 3G in major markets throughout the year, plus we'd heard those top markets would be balling along by the end of it. So, even if it's later than October, it won't be too much later. Hopefully. [TmoNews]

<![CDATA[T-Mobile's 3G Network Rolling Out May in NYC, Coincides With 3G HTC Touch Dual?]]> We've been waiting for 3G on T-Mobile longer than we've been waiting for The Police to get back together, and it looks like May will be the month that all this patience finally pays off. TmoNews is pegging the first launch to be in NYC, and spreading to the rest of the country's major cities throughout the rest of 2008 (list after the jump). Of course, it's just a rumor so far, but it does seem to coincide with this HTC Touch Dual Into Mobile found on the FCC, which is supposedly headed toward T-Mobile and features 3G HSDPA. We'll post as we learn more, though we're hopeful that this could finally be it for T-Mobile users to not pull down mobile data at 1996 dial-up speeds. [FCC via IntoMobile - TmoNews]
