The creation of new life is a miracle, but ugh, it sure can take forever. Thanks to the wonders of time lapse photography, however, one YouTuber was able to cut the entire development cycle of a tadpole down to just 20 seconds. It almost looks fake, but it’s as real as life gets.
Scientists have documented Indian dancing frogs for over a century. For that century, they’ve found only adult frogs. At last, a team of biologists have found the tadpoles that develop into frogs—and they’ve found them underground.
Scientists have never seen anything quite like this before. It's a newly discovered species of fanged frog that gives direct birth to live tadpoles instead of laying eggs. It isn't that rare for scientists to find new species of animals, but finding an entirely new mode of reproduction is a different story altogether.
Happy Monday, people. We hope you're ready for some weird, because we're about to bring it in the form of a wriggling frog-sac full of tinier frogs.
