Too bad you can't see it for another 27 days.

Electric Pig says that the headset will have noise cancellation (as does many of the headsets out now), and it won't need a boom mic (again, same as a bunch of other Bluetooth units you can buy now). So what's special? Besides the "soft rubber padding", we have no idea until the 20th. [Jabra Stone via Electric Pig]

<![CDATA[Alienware Teases Us With "Allpowerful" Laptop Riddle]]> As you may already know, Alienware has a gaming laptop coming out next month with a name that automatically sets the bar impossibly high: "Allpowerful." The latest ad in their teaser campaign features a riddle that has been cracked by Larven on the NotebookReview forums.

Apparently, the gibberish on the image above reads:

The sum of the first four primes
denotes a state of two parts
known as the gentleman's muscle car of 1967
when pure, it will carry a yield strength of 7-11 mpa
is always empty in zero sum games

These clues hint at a 17-inch display, Core 2 Extreme or Core i7 processing, GTX NVIDIA graphics, an aluminum chassis and dual everything—but we probably won't know for sure until the laptop is released next month. Rest assured though—prices will be high and battery life will be low. [Alienware via NotebookReview]

<![CDATA[Sony's January 9th Announcement Will Be That Oblong Netbook... Thing]]> The cryptic countdown in New Zealand and the FCC info about the strange, elongated maybe-netbook are almost certainly for the same product, according to a Japanese teaser site.

In the flash animation at the front of Sony's Japanese Vaio page an masked device that matches the leaked dimensions of the shallow, long miniature laptop can be clearly seen. The site dubs the product "Sony New Mobile", which fits quite well with the previous "It'll change the way you look at laptops" blind teaser, and implies the same mobile connectivity focus that was evident in the leaked specs.
The main question now is one of price. Will Sony aim for the affordable heart of the netbook market, just sell an oddly-shaped, regularly priced laptop or—and I'd say this is a likely possibility—end up with a product that sits uncomfortably between netbooks and traditional laptops in both price and performance? Regardless, the form factor is interesting and we'll find out more spes (and if it's coming to the US) on January 9th, probably at CES. [Sony.jp via Electronista]

<![CDATA[iRex Promises a "New Era in Digital Reading" Next Week, a.k.a. an Updated iLiad]]> There are no real details yet, but the e-reader company iRex has a teaser site up promising to unveil a "new era in digital reading" on September 22nd. We're not sure what kind of improvements they're going to make on their iLiad reader to make it worthwhile in this current market. Obviously, they are going to need to try pretty hard in order to take on the likes of Amazon's Kindle. Alright iRex...WOW me! [iRex]

<![CDATA[Nokia's Weirdest Clip Ever Made Might Just Be It]]> Nokia's teaser site that promised the weirdest clip ever made has just coughed up that video in question, and yeah, it's pretty damn weird. The first puzzle is almost impossible to solve by non-brute force methods if you don't have a Nokia phone, but if you do, it's a matter of watching the video and plugging in the symbols in the correct order. For those of you who don't want to try it for themselves, you can see the video after the jump. We're still unclear what phone this is teasing for. [Open At Own Risk]

<![CDATA[Sony's New Ad Campaign Teaser: Crazy Stuff With Cameras]]> Sony's launching a new ad campaign on April 22, following up all those other spots we're crazy about. We got our hands on the teaser, entitled "Nothing," and it is both very cool and totally irritating at the same time, because "Nothing" is exactly what happens. Kind of. It's a bunch of smug film dudes talking with British accents about explosions and special effects, while doing increasingly crazy things with their cameras. If I was one of those cameras in the video, I'd be praying for a stunt double—look for the one that gets tossed off a bungee platform, and the other that gets rolled down a friggin' mountain. But all of this build-up is for what, Sony? WHAT ARE THEY SHOOTING!!??! [Sony]

<![CDATA[Motorola Teaser Vid for Upcoming Z12 Media Phone?]]> A Motorola teaser video popped up on YouTube, complete with people lugging around TVs, laptops, CDs and DVD players. The spot ends with the statement "It doesn't have to be this hard." Word on the 'nets is this vid is for Motorola's Z12 phone, which is said to have significant multimedia features (mobile video, 5 MP camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, etc...). Expect to hear more on this at 3GSM in Barcelona next week. [Electronista via Ubergizmo]

<![CDATA[Duke Nukem Forever Teaser Leaves Us Unimpressed]]> When we last played the Duke Nukem series, it ran exclusively on German Enigma machines, which means that unless this teaser trailer showed graphics so far ahead of its league that it makes Crysis look like stick figure drawings, there's no way that anybody will be impressed. It's not that the graphics are horrible, but we've seen similar from Gears of War—and that was last year. At least the voice actor and dialogue are still the same, which means 15-year-old Jason would love it.

We're not sure what engine this is using (Wikipedia says it uses Unreal 2.0), but whatever it is, it's been changed a bunch of times, including the Unreal 1 engine for a time. Did you know that the top of the line gaming PC back when it was supposed to be released was a Pentium II? And it probably would have run on an NVIDIA TNT? Jeez. [Shacknews]

<![CDATA[Nokia Teaser Site Makes Us Wonder What's In Store]]> Nokia just dropped a little teaser site, and the only clue they are giving is a small N Series emblem on the webpage. We could not possibly guess what this could all mean, but as you put your trust in us, we shall throw our thoughts in the conjecture pool: perhaps an N82, monsieur? We have been waiting weeks for the smartphone with a 5MP camera; is it finally heading our way? We shall not have to wait long to find out. In the meantime, jump for some chrometastic pictures of the N82's front and booty.

<![CDATA[Verizon Teaser Site Shows Four New Handsets]]>
Edit: Engadget Mobile has an insider at Verizon that gave them the revealed image. Seems like the phones are, starting from the left, the Samsung U470, the Pearl 2, the LG VX8800, and the VX10000. The new names are Samsung Juke, BlackBerry Pearl, LG Venus and LG Voyager. - JC [Engadget Mobile]

Original Post:
Verizon has dropped a teaser site showing four mysterious handsets, sending us into a hyperventilating, blogging mess. OK, we are not so elated, but there looks to be a line up of four phones to join the Verizon arsenal and one of them just may get us having an excited fit, we hope.

The Blackberry Pearl 2, BGR states, is certainly set for a release this November, so it shall not be available when the teaser is unveiled in 3d 12h 58m 14s 33ms...no in 3d 12h 14s 22ms...oh, it just keeps changing, how frustrating. [Verizon via Boy Genius Report]

<![CDATA[Heroes Season 2 Teaser Shows Slight Spoilers]]> We're not sure if NBC wanted to keep the Heroes season 2 teaser video spoiler free, but the fact that a few characters appear in this—the same characters whose fates were up in the air at the end of season 1—kind of smashes that idea somewhat. If you don't want to know whether Peter, Nathan, or Sylar survives, don't watch the video—but the mere fact that we just named the three may have been spoiler enough. Them's the nature of the internets, my friends. [Heroes]

<![CDATA[Is the iPhone Worthy of Pantsing?]]> Lam and I are both holed up doing a review that will both move the iPhone conversation forward and cut through all the other half-assed review bullshit we've seen so far. No fluff here; this is the review you've been waiting for. You'll soon find out whether the iPhone is worthy of a pantsing.

<![CDATA[iRiver Teaser Site Reveals Upcoming Super Player]]> There aren't many details on the iRiver teaser site, but from what we can make out, this "Life Unit" will have DVD, TV, PMP capabilities, WAN/LAN connectivity (Internet streaming?), slot loading CD/DVD inside an auto-sliding door, an SD slot and will act as an access point/charging station for other iRiver players.

In addition to that there's a 78-key QWERTY base unit controller that also controls the portable unit (which docks into the base unit, presumably). All this cockteasing is really annoying, iRiver. Let's have it already.

<![CDATA[80GB PlayStation 3 May Come To US, According to AP]]>
We told you on Monday that an 80GB PS3 was slated for launch in South Korea on June 16. What the good old reliable Associated Press has learned from Sony is that the company is considering the model for the US as well. Actually, here's what the AP heard:

"Increasing capacity for models is one of the options," said Satoshi Fukuoka, spokesman for Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. "We make such decisions depending on the needs of the market, and every country is different."

So it's not carved in stone. I for one think a 20GB bump up is just too small, given the low cost of hard drives. Why not double it to a clean 120GB? And while we're at it, how about online HD movie downloads? Oh, right, Blu-ray.

<![CDATA[New Olympus DSLR(s): March 5th]]> On their European site, Olympus has listed this teaser image under their DSLR camera section. And the rumor mill is running wild. Will it be one new camera...two new cameras (because of two dates)...or three new cameras (because of the sizes)? Or will it be some super camera that can change sizes like the Atom? Yeah...that's it.

I'm really hoping for something good with this release. Olympus is ranking 4th at best in the current, delightfully crowded sub-$1000 DSLR market. So hopefully their new line of Atom Cameras (or just an E-line update) can stir the pot even more.
