@kzooguy: You don't have to use the command line to set up Ubuntu or any of its derivatives.
I have yet to have a machine in which K/X/Ubuntu was unable to install drivers during the initial installation process. Yes, I use aptitude or apt-get to download application packages, but with the Synaptics Package Manager, you don't have to launch a terminal window at all to add applications.
I'm pretty sure you will be able to take a machine, install K/X/Ubuntu and configure it to you liking without launching a terminal window once.
@seizure: "You don't have to use the command line to set up Ubuntu or any of its derivatives." - This is incorrect.
Running Ubuntu without using command line is theoretically possible, but deviate in the slightest from the path that was laid before you and it's command line city.

As in, no command line needed at any point.
Now I love the command line and use vim and gcc on my mac when I could just use xcode, but most people aren't quite as geeky as I.
