Here are updates on getting the Optimizer disc and glasses:

THX says that any THX-certified DVD will have the Optimizer in the bonus features, but when there are multiple editions of a movie, it can be frustrating to figure out. (It's also annoying that THX doesn't appear to have updated the list in over two years.) We do know that this $15 Skynet edition Blu-ray of Terminator 2 has it, so it might be worth grabbing.

The Optimizer blue-filter glasses—highly recommended—are $2, and are sold by THX right here, but these do not come with the disc. More instructions and details on the Optimizer system here.

Anyway, on to the guide—if you have any fresh pointers to share about it, or want to talk about other cheap, good methods of calibration, do it here in the comments below.

Shout out to John Mahoney for putting together the original guide.

<![CDATA[Terminator 2 Complete Collector's Set Proves Technology Is Man's Downfall]]> Terminator 2 is a great film. But the Terminator 2 Complete Collector's Set must be the most obnoxious DVD bundle I've ever seen—the epitome of movie studio greed wrapped in one environmentally devastating package.

You know how T2 has been released on DVD a bunch of times, and then it came to Blu-ray, and then a new Blu-ray edition was announced? Well all these kicks in the balls to early adopting fans will now be bundled into one big set. For about $120, you get:

Terminator 2 Skynet Edition Blu-ray
Terminator 2 Extreme Edition DVD
Terminator 2 Ultimate Edition DVD
Terminator 2 Digital Copy

The collection, which will be released May 19th, features 6 discs and promises to include every T2 special feature ever—along with a 14-inch terminator endoskull that lights up and makes noises. And if you listen closely, really closely, you can hear that shiny metal head advertising the next Terminator 2 Ultimate Complete Collector's Set Extreme Edition. [Amazon via /film]

<![CDATA[Rare Terminator Endoskeleton, Own It Now Until Judgment Day]]> Sideshow Collectibles produced just 40 or so of these 6-foot chromed metal and fiberglass Terminator endoskeletons, complete with futuristic blue LED lighting. Long sold out/destroyed by Sarah Connor, you can still score one of your own in this eBay auction. The collectible is listed for a hefty $20,000, but you get those two cute little framed Terminator posters behind the statue as well. So that shaves off like $100 from the price right there.
