Wouldn't it be a more effective ad if instead of getting an ultra thin model to promote an ultra thin TV, they use a morbidly obese model to emphasize the TV's thinness by way of contrast?
@Samir Jain:
Some people want to be able to wall mount their TVs onto the walls of their dorm rooms using poster mounts, sticky tack, and 3M Command strips. Thus, a demand for thin, light TVs that don't require drilling (wall mounts are banned on my campus--both TV and monitors), or taking up more space than needed.
"I think we need to get some iconic products out there, so people associate Dell's brand with other things." Namely, that's goodbye to clunky, and hello to sleek."
I'm pretty sure people are associating the Dell brand with other things besides the word clunky....
I mean, remember that one time Nintendo named one of their systems a goofy name? What a mistake that turned out to be. I don't know anyone who owns one of those.
Man, thanks you guys for getting that cleared up for me. I totally thought that Dell and Nintendo were one in the same. Now I realize the error of my ways.
It's not as if the point of my original post could still apply though, is it? Nah, Nintendo is probably the only company who could create a successful product with a goofy name.
The MacBook Air isn't actually that thin once you've followed the curves to the back. On the other hand the thicker back does provide a nice angle to lean it on the table. What they really to get right is the flimsy USB socket.
As Jeremy Clarkson said to the Hamster: "Your Porsche weighs 240 kilograms less than the standard 911, right? And it costs 15,000 pounds more. So you're paying more for less parts. You know, pretty soon, someone with no Porsche will walk past a Porsche dealership be charged a million pounds."
Will it have a DVD-ROM drive, adequate ports, a stable OS, decent network capability.
I don't care about size, as much as I do of how functional the notebook is. The Macbook Air is not functional at all. If notebook size is an issue, may a I suggest using the money you would use for a Macbook Air to get a moderate notebook, a bigger tote bag, and a gym membership.
@DeadhousepIants: The Macbook Air IS functional, however does not function in a manner which you prefer. However, given the new line of notebooks alongside it and their respective capabilities and dimensions, the manner in which it functions nears total irrelevance lol.
@pizzlepaps: I'm curious about the chosen name "Adamo" and any speculation that could be drawn from that. Mostly because I'm bored. Regardless, some quick Googling nets it as a proper name in Italian: "Adamo - n. Adam, first man and the husband of Eve (Biblical); male first name" or the similar Spanish: "adamar - v. court, flatter; woo, seek to gain the affections of." So, the Adam & Eve connection, the forbidden apple... that Apple? Or perhaps Dell is simply seeking to gain the affections of someone... like the Apple-leaning consumer? Eh? No?
@LastVigilante: I put "adamo" into babelfish for the spanish to english translation and it comes back with "I become effeminate".. I hope that's not what they were going for, or I ain't carrying one!

Isn't it more about the QUALITY of the TV rather than the width?
