He's now posting on the DailyBeast, and he's got some interesting things to say about his favorite plaintiff: namely that since the negative PR resulting from Ciarelli's case, Apple seems to have realized the buzz-building value of early leaks and non-response to rumors. Nicholas might still be pretty young, but he's also still right. It's definitely worth a read. [DailyBeast]

<![CDATA[Think Secret Closes After Settling With Apple]]> thinksecret.pngApple rumor site Think Secret has just issued a statement documenting an amicable settlement with Apple over their lawsuit, and announcing the closure of the site. Founder Nick Ciarelli was hazy on the details but professed himself "very satisfied" with the settlement. Yeah, I bet he is. Anyone care to speculate on who's paying what, and to whom? <![CDATA[Apple's RED iMac, MacBook?]]> We're not so sure whether we should believe ThinkSecret or not, given that we've found the site's predictions to be about 57% accurate, but anyway, here's one that seems logical and could actually happen: sources report that Steve Jobs and Bono have discussed bringing a red iMac and MacBook to market part of its purchase price going to aid AIDS victims in Africa, to follow its red iPod that made such a splash last week.

Believe that above scuttlebutt with all due trepidation. But we've taken a liking to this idea of donating 10% $10 of the purchase price of techno-gear to charity, and hope other manufacturers will follow suit. This is a fad that could actually make a real difference in this world. Bravo.

<![CDATA[How Often is ThinkSecret Right About Apple Predictions?]]> Every time an Apple Event rolls around, ThinkSecret seems to have the inside scoop on what's going to be announced. But how often are they right? Apple Matters does a count:

Results:
11 correct predictions
8 incorrect predictions
11 missed announcements

In other words, for all announcements made by Apple, ThinkSecret gets them half right (or half wrong). Of the half they got wrong, they are usually total surprises by Apple (Intel switch, Boot Camp). Apparently, when they do have a real source inside they get all the info, such as product names, specs, pricing, and availability. When they don't have such detailed info, that means the source is either shaky or nonexistent. Something to note whenever there's a future prediction about Apple products.
