There are plenty of people who are upset that Q has not been delivering gadgets to James Bond in these last two installments, but if you look at the last items the Quartermaster has given bond (invisible car) they've been cheesy.

i for one, like the practical technology they've infused in the latest bonds, but if there were a way to inject some more creative gadgets, without relying on them as crutches, they could be welcome.

case in point; In From Russia with Love (one of my favorite Bond films) his equipment conssists of a a briefcase with knives, gold coins, tear gas and a sniper rifle in it. - definitely more practical for the world weary traveler.
