In reply to Star Wars Tilt-Shift Photos Convert Fanboys Into Their Beloved Action Figures
Thanks for blogging about my photos I tilt-shifted on the Star Wars Blog! Tilt-shifting is really fun but after testing out a lot of different photos, I have to say that overhead shots and group photos from a distance work best. It's more difficult to get close-up shots to work without just looking blurry.

That being said, photos of the members of the 501st Legion (the awesome fans who dress up as stormtroopers and clone troopers in amazing armor) in action seem to work the best.

You all really should try it out on your own photos -- especially if you plan on going to NY Comic-Con!

I am tired of tilt-shift articles, especially ones that look half-assed

@Preston Herrmann: Then don't read them. You realize it takes no effort to not click. But rather than do that, you take the effort to click on the article, login, write how you are tired of an article to which you are commenting on. Interesting.

Not bad, but that gradient could have been done a little better. The transition between the background, subject, and foreground are too noticeable.

Its a difficult thing to execute properly.

It's not Star Wars related, but I made my own tilt-shift picture from a shot I took in Vernazza, Italy last summer.

These look horrible and the reason they do is because theyre not real Tilt-Shift photos.

According to the post, they uploaded the photos to [tiltshiftmaker.com]

which adds a shitty looking fake tiltlens effect to any photo.

@superduper27: Instead of being an ass, why don't you just offer suggestions on how to make better photos using the tilt-shift method you seem to prefer?

I hate to say it, but the other Tilt-Shifts I have seen here look better. Those looked miniature, even though I knew they were full size. These, not so much. Sorry.

TS photography is more than just adding some blur effect to the photo. The reason objects look miniature is that the perspective of the photo gets altered.

For two-bucks, you got yourself a sale. I spend more on that on a can of PBR at the pub (PBR $2, tip $1).

Maybe you should take a look at the actual reason for tilt-shift lenses, it's far more useful than simply making big things look small.

Should only add that tilt-shift photography techniques goes far beyond a crappy blur filter, which is what this app should be called.
