    @KTK1990: What I want to know is what that little phrase is supposed to MEAN?

    Is is a 15k SAS drive, about the bare minimum I'd consider "Server class"? Is it marketing-speak for "fast", maybe a 10k SATA? Does it just mean that the new drives won't drop dead after a year and a half, like the old ones? Are they just charging more for it to put it in the same 'class' as a server drive?

    WHAT DOES 'SERVER CLASS' MEAN!? #timecapsule

    @DennyCraneDennyCraneDennyCrane: In this case I would think it's in reference to its lifespan (hours).

    When you see lifespan outside of servers they are assuming that the drives will not be running 24/7/365.

    3rd Parties started offering this as an option when the Mini was refreshed this year and Apple moved to a SATA SuperDrive. If true, it'd be nice if Apple would offer it with a sealed drive slot. #apple

    Wasn't the TC upgraded to simultaneous dual-band WiFi when the storage was bumped, or am I mistaken?

    A real "upgrade" to the TC would be fan-assisted cooling, cuz that mamajama gets hot.

    Pretty sure "SIM DUALBAND" means Simultaneous Dualband -- as in, they'll be able to do WiFi on both the 2.8ghz and 5ghz bands at the same time. #apple

    This is why a NAS raid enclosure WITH YOUR OWN DRIVES is better than any of the crap any of these so called i-need-to-cut-corners-to-make-it-under-b... tech firms (Apple included) tries to shovel down your cake hole.

    You bought a custom drive enclosure with crappy drives because it had the mark of the beas...err Apple logo on it which makes you a complete tool.

    Now bend over...it will sting just a bit cause we cut lube from the budget this year.

    It doesn't seem to be the "server grade" hard drives that are failing, it's the (second grade, held back a year?) power supplies.

    I'm usually ok with rolling my own electronics, but those capacitors are pretty high powered and don't have a bleed-off, so I'm scared. Mine lasted 549 days.
