With only 2 HDTV's I bounce against the limit all the time. Depending on your area, you can record 2 shows, and watch 2 recorded shows. Basically, you can have 2 incoming HD streams, or 4 standard def streams, or some magical combination of the above. But you will not be able to watch 3 live shows. Also, most features are only available on the main box, which is the DVR. They are fixing it at some point. Scheduling shows is only from the main box. Pausing live TV is only on the main box. (you can pause recorded shows on any box.) Last up, check if you are in the 2/2 profile area, or the 1/3. (That's HD versus SD streams.)
With all that, I LOVE the speed I get, but not everyone tests out at 18Mb.
@primalsilicon: that's what i thought. my sister has uverse and she warned me about that. we are going to need to watch three HD shows at once and if uverse can't than it's out.
i chatted with them last night and they said it wouldn't have a problem, but i guess they lied.
i just don't wanna pay $182 after taxes for digital cable, all the movie channels, decent internet and three boxes. seems really friggin' steep.
uverse is a similar price, but i was getting $250 cash back after a few months w/no contract.
Why will anyone sign up for that crap when they can get Fios or someone else. I think cablevision is the only Cable company that's serious about business.
@snitch: I's been discussed in length, but most if not all of TW's test areas have no similar competition. If anything, a DSL alternative is available and that's it.
"What happened as we're continuing to listen was we worked in some of the comments and ideas that got sent to us
as well as the death threats, comments about our Mothers, questions of our parents martial status, how much we "fail!1!!", exactly what our IQ is lower than, things I can't repeat in mixed company, etc... etc...
@YoSoyHe-Man!!_GitEmSteveDave: I would like to say that I like getting my internet from a cable company but if they go through with this I have no choice but to cancel my subscription and downgrade to DSL until Version gets fios in my area.
I think version will get so many more customers if they got fios in ever major town. I know at least 12 other people who are waiting for them.
love my Cogeco cable. we went over our cap (60gb) by a little (we were pushing 160GB) and all they did was send us an email explaining we should look at another plan or see why were doing so much.
nice, polite and got them the price of the upgrade from 60gb a month to 102gb a month. (with 16mbps down and 1mbps up)
I just turned 22 and would be happy to see MTV go. I loathe that channel -- I feel it's a microcosm of everything wrong with today's society. Self-loving, ignorant, superficial and obnoxious. It caters to the "me, me, me" ideology that seems to be the curse of every generation. And yeah, definitely no music there -- how is reality TV not dead yet!? It's been around for so, so long and every show maintains the same exact format, it seems. You'd think people would have tired of it by now.
a bit off topic, but why do people find steven colbert funny? i didnt like him on the daily show, didnt like him in the love guru, and cant stand him on his own show. i dont know how him or dane cook got so popular. not knocking anyone who does like them. i just dont find it funny. and i've tried, i really have. i want to be like all the other children
@ilikedachacha: For things like this, I’ll (badly) paraphrase Ebert: "There are two things you cannot debate: comedy and erotica. If something is funny, you’ll laugh at it and no amount of explaining will change that. And it’s hard to argue against an erection."
Like you, I just don’t laugh at Colbert’s shtick. Granted, with the exception of Dr. Strangelove, I don’t think much that’s very funny has been written since Abbott and Costello’s heyday, so take that for what it’s worth. #timewarnercable
I am a TWC subscriber, and IMO MTV and Comedy Central are more for younger tweens. Not that I feel old (only 30 - hell, maybe I am?) But if I want good comedy I watch Family Guy, [ADULT SWIM], or other 'dark' comedy like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia; stuff you don't see on Comedy Central (ok, ok I still watch Southpark).
@Dick In A Box: Comedy Central still has the Daily Show and the Colbert Report. I'd be sorry to see those go. Good thing we don't get our cable from TW (but we thought that before this happened).

what is better for HDTV recording/watching.
TWC or ATT Uverse? i need to sign up for service and the ATT Uverse seems a little cheaper from the get go. Please help.
and video recording and watching 3 HDTVs all at once is a must. if one or the other can't do it -- let me know.

What unholy deal with the Devil has Glenn Britt made to be able to utter such a statement without so much as a smirk or a chortle? I'm amazed.

Hulu for everything else. If it's truly funny, it will make it's way onto the information supa highway.

As long as I can get the ABC and NBC network families , CNN, and AMC (for Mad Men), it's all copacetic.

Reaction 2: Actually, it's not that bad.
Reaction 3: Actually, I don't really even care one way or the other.
Reaction 4: Holy shit, I have no reaction to this story!
