@Yanguang: Aside from the will of the powers that be, there's not really that much of a scare of the Magic not receiving the update. The issue the G1 has had (available space) is due to a 70MB system partition, which 2.0 is pushing up against. The Magic has a 90MB system partition, which leaves plenty of room. The only thing you guys have to worry about is your carrier withholding the update. Which I personally doubt they'll do. #tmobileg1htcdreamandroid20

How does Android 2.0 stack up against the whole hero/sense build HTC has done? If you ahve a G1, do yourself a favor and flash one of KingKlick's hero/sense ROMS (check htcpedia dot com). It's unbelievable. #tmobileg1htcdreamandroid20

I just noticed his battery went from 1/2 to 1/4 in the 8 minutes he used it. Since synching is not available and he barely did any 3G browsing

I'm assuming the little 528 Mhz processor on the G1 was really struggling to keep up with the OS.

Cyanogen ROMs have been overclocked for a while now, so I hope he'll work his usual magic and gives us a solid, useable release. I don't mind buying him a couple more beers for it! #tmobileg1htcdreamandroid20

@fdisk: One of my big complaints about Android is the battery indicator, it doesn't really seem to be incremented well. I think what probably happened was his battery was at, say, %30 and still reading 1/2 on the indicator, then went down a little from there and flipped to 1/4.

I seriously (hopefully?) doubt 2.0 will suck down THAT much power over normal. #tmobileg1htcdreamandroid20

can't we just wait till the official 2.0 firmware push occurs? #tmobileg1htcdreamandroid20

@Sith_Mafia: There has been a question of if there is going to be an official 2.0 push for the G1. #tmobileg1htcdreamandroid20

@tande04: True, but they said that about Donut as well and they were wrong. 2.0 will make it to the G1 in some form of that I am supremely confident. #tmobileg1htcdreamandroid20

@TryAgain: They did. There is no doubt that there will be 2.0 in some form (as seen here) just a question of an official release. #tmobileg1htcdreamandroid20

@tande04: i dont see why they wouldn't. It's just software. All android phones should be able to run the latest version, some might take advantage of it better than others due to hw, but we should still get it. #tmobileg1htcdreamandroid20

@Sith_Mafia: The biggest thing is physical memory of the device itself. The G1 has a piffling amount of internal OS-dedicated memory and putting 2.0 would leave very little in place for application use. Not a problem for rooted users like myself using apps2sd, but for the general schmoe, you'd be somewhat limited on free space, and potential performance. #tmobileg1htcdreamandroid20

@tande04: I think that there will be. Seems possible if they cut out all the additional apps from telecom providers, and move them to the Apps store for individual downloads. Similar to the Droid app store that has Free, Pay and Verizon App tabs. This would also move the apps to the removable memory rather than on board saving space. #tmobileg1htcdreamandroid20

@Mr_Nowitt: I don't think that would change anything.

The app store is alredy set up that way. Apps don't load off the memory card (which is one main draw back). So regardless of how many tmobile apps they don't preinstall it wouldn't matter in the end. Besides it's a bigger problem than just general free space. It's the partition of the os that's at issue. #tmobileg1htcdreamandroid20

So the sluggishness is not attributed to the specs of the G1 but rather to the software port of the coder? That's good news, I'm sure (CN)2 will come up with something good. #tmobileg1htcdreamandroid20

@PurpleMonkeyDishwasher: : The slugishness is because this has been done using the software from the emulator, not a full rom. Cyanogen has said that once eclair is released to the AOSP he will be building a ROM for it. Akira deserves credit for getting this running (and also for creating the ROM I am Currently using). #tmobileg1htcdreamandroid20
