(Unlike that dreamy Wii MotionPlus!) So rather than calling it quits on the relationship, they built a super-sensitive motion sensor.

If you hit the link for a pair of videos, you'll see the DIY motion sensor in action. Those crazy tinkerers were able to make the attachment work by taking advantage of the TG01s USB host functionality, so this could be just one of the first examples of expansions for this gadget.

Yeah, maybe the motion sensor isn't very attractive and maybe using it to scroll through and zoom in and out of pictures isn't that exciting, but I'm giddy that there could be a "shake to refresh" function reactive enough for me to not look like an idiot while shaking my phone.

Oh! And the best part? The sleek and sexy TG01 has gotten through the FCC. [wmpoweruser via MobileCrunch]

<![CDATA[Toshiba TG01 Passes Through FCC Immigration Gates, Suitcase Full of Snapdragon]]> Windows Mobile's Great Hardware Hope, the Snapdragon-powered Toshiba TG01, has earned the coveted blessing of the FCC, meaning that it's probably on its way to a US carrier. A CDMA carrier, evidently, so either Sprint or Verizon.

Engadget notes the the approved device is listed as a "production" unit, rather than the typical prototype fare that passes in front of weary bureaucrats' eyes, and takes that to mean that the TG01 is fairly close to launch. Maybe, but definitely not, well, definitely. It's a fair bet that it'll show up somewhere, though, so for now feel free to fantasize (maybe a strong word) about which carrier's product line will absorb this slim beauty. My take: I'd say Sprint could use a healthy WinMo phone, but Verizon needs it more. Now you go. [Engadget]

<![CDATA[Toshiba TG01 Windows Mobile Smartphone In Action, Looks Even Better]]> "Sleek, elegant design," says the official video of the Toshiba TG01 smartphone. And it's true. But their interface demo also shows why it may be the best Windows Mobile weapon against Android, iPhone, and Blackberry.

As you can see, Toshiba not only has created a slim 9.9mm-thick smartphone with a generous 4.1-inch screen, but they seem to have redesigned the user interface completely to avoid the dreadful Windows Mobile's user interface too.

Of course, this is a canned demo and we will have to wait until we have it in our hands to see if the changes are just on the first level or deep into the user experience. [Pocket Lint]

<![CDATA[Toshiba TG01 May Be Best Windows Mobile Answer Yet to iPhone and Android Camps]]> There may not be a Zune Phone, but Toshiba's—the original Zune manufacturer—new Windows Mobile 6-based TG01 smartphone is close enough. And with a 4.1-inch screen and 9.9mm thickness, it looks extremely good.

And for those who hate the Windows Mobile interface (guilty as charged), the new Toshiba TG01 has a revamped interface that, on the surface, looks pretty. According to Electric Pig, the new phone looks amazingly good, specially next to the iPhone and the BlackBerry Bold, making them look "tubby".

<![CDATA[Toshiba G810 Windows Mobile Smartphone Looks Like the HTC Touch]]> Toshiba's no stranger to Windows Mobile devices, but their latest G810 touchscreen handset looks more similar to the HTC Touch than their previous HTC-like phones. It's got Windows Mobile 6 on board, 3g HSDPA, 3-megapixel camera with auto-focus, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM radio 2.8-inch touchscreen display, 256MB internal memory, GPS, and a late Spring European launch. It's got enough features to be a good phone, but it's nothing revolutionary. [Toshiba Europe via Tech Digest via The Unwired]

<![CDATA[Toshiba Portege G900 Screen Video]]> You saw the unboxing video of the Toshiba G900 yesterday, but Matt from Tracy and Matt have a video of the screen up today. It's hard to tell from the video (screens are here), but that 800x480 is really huge. And in a device only slightly bigger than other slide-out-keyboard Windows Mobile smartphones, this seems like the Peter North of WM screens. But slightly less wet.

<![CDATA[Toshiba Portege High-Resolution Windows Mobile 6 Smartphone Unboxed]]> We've seen the Toshiba G900 Windows Mobile 6 smartphone work its way past the FCC already, but Matt from Tracy and Matt have an unboxing of the 800x400-enabled touchscreen phone up now. They compare it to similar HTC phones and Samsung WM phones and pretty much come out with the conclusion that this is gigantic. We wish they'd fire up the screen so we can see what that huge resolution looks like, but that'll be in the next video. Hopefully.
