    "With a 17.3-inch (1600x900) display"

I stopped there. My Dell XPS M1710 has a 1920x1200 resolution. I'll wait for the Studio 17 Touch to allow for a little more real estate.

@Tamar Weinberg: i'm sure that's just the resolution of the base configuration. when you want to configure your machine i'm 100% positive that you'll have the option to upgrade to a higher res screen.

@Voohoo: Before I wrote the above comment, I went to the Dell page linked in this article, chose their most expensive option, and didn't get an option to pay more to get a 1920x1200 display. I'm not sure where @ForestFire0 is seeing what I'm not, but 1920x1080 is still less screen real estate than I'm used to.

Call me too stubborn and too fixated on the 16:9. It's going to be a hard adjustment for me, I suppose, and I've been craving a touchscreen laptop for awhile. Hopefully the 1920x1200 option will be something I'll see in the foreseeable future. I'm glad I'm not in any hurry to buy a new machine.

@Tamar Weinberg: hm, i just went to the Dell page that was linked in this article. if you go to the Studio 17 option all the way to the right ($1099) and choose to personalize it you will get numerous HD display options for it including 1080p. the other Studio 17 options they show seem to be the older models which only offer the archaic screen res. well anyway, the dang touch screen Studio laptop isn't even out yet so know one can prove anything yet. BUT i'm still very sure there will be at least a 1080p option.

Good specs, it's just too bad that the touch portion is a total gimmick, but for the money, I suppose it doesn't matter.

Well lets look at how long that black bar is for the network name. AT&T doesn't take up that much space, however T-Mobile does. Verizon is also a possibility That being said, T-Mobile is too busy trying to sell everyone the MyTouch to launch a new android line. So I'm going to say its going to be one of Verizon's first android phones, taking the "with google" branding, so no sense UI, just standard Android.

EDIT: And then I saw the 3G logo. So there you go folks, T-Mobile or AT&T. As an aside, "Android" fits in that black space as well, and that's likely what is there and the tipster is just playing games with us. The only other possibility for carrier titles is T-Mobile, but again, I'm none to sure they really want to release another android phone what with them trying to sell everyone the MyTouch and trying to fan the flames for the Cliq's eventual arrival.

So Final Judgment, I'm going to say this is for AT&T.

The blacked out text - if you decide to go to the blog obnoxiously watermarked - is actually an identification number that can be tracked back to who holds that very phone.

I.E. "Welcome to 31337-32". Then HTC/whoever could look up who has phone 31337-32 and then drop the lawsuit-bomb on them. #android

One problem I could see is that you'd have to hold your fingers slightly above the pad or else it will register as a click. It doesn't look like you can rest your hand or fingers on the pad. Unless they use a double tap motion. #10gui
