    i would have ripped the battery out of the ipod and hooked it to the phone - i bet the voltages weren't off by enough to run afoul of whatever rectifiers are on the phones PCB.

    The article doesn't mention iPod, only "an MP3 player."


    Even though I love my iPods, I don't like this kind of blogging. This is the kind of thing that creates backlash against Apple. It's good... but don't push it.

    Yeah, that pisses me off that Dan says it was an iPod, where if he had read the Reuters article, he would've noticed that the brand of the mp3 player was not mentioned. Gizmodo is the only site that's reporting it was an iPod.

    There is actually a app that has a alpine distress signal in it. I wonder if they had it installed? The media needs give better details to us nerds.
