@davepermen001: Thanks! I didn't know that. Of course now I've upgraded my home Windows box to 7. Sadly there are too many other things that don't work in Vista. My company never moved to it. The Windows machines we have are still XP. And work is where I mostly want this feature. #windows7shortcuts
@FigNinja: I remember installing a powertoy at one point that added "CMD here" to the right click menu on my laptop a few years ago. #windows7shortcuts
@FigNinja: Yes! Like the others here, I loved the Command Prompt Here feature in the XP Power Toys. I'm glad they finally added it in. #windows7shortcuts
"[O]ne of the best new hotkeys in Windows 7 is the fact that you can create a new folder with a hotkey. Just open up any Windows Explorer window, hit the Ctrl+Shift+N shortcut key sequence, and you'll be rewarded with a shiny "New Folder" ready for you to rename."
OMG OMG.. FINALLY.. after 7 years of complaining to anyone at Microsoft who would listen.. #windows7shortcuts
Yeah, I don't think this would work. As someone pointed out, the water used to make the ice cubes would likely dissolve the Mentos. Also, I remember watching Mythbusters as they tried to figure out what made the whole Mentos + Cola thing work and part of it had to do with the shape of the bottle.
@Shavo: Doesn't matter, since no one on this thread seems to have seen the Mythbusters about this, even a dose of completely liquefied mentos would cause the reaction (albeit probably not as energetically), the reaction is caused by chemicals in the mentos catalyzing the release of the dissolved CO2 in the soda, it has nothing to do with the physical properties of the candy...
@Trowble (XBL/PSN): Then some weird situation will arise, they'll improvise, and after you give them the quizzical dog look they'll hold up a Mentos cube. Duh.
@Masonvrocks: FFVs13 GOTY 2015: Another question is to what extent the ice encasing the Mentos will inhibit the effervescence. The ice will probably not melt uniformly around the Mentos, so at first, only a small part of the Mentos' surface area will be exposed to the Diet Coke. The reaction will still happen, but at a slower pace due to this smaller surface area exposure. As a result, the Mentos might just get eaten away slowly, resulting in just a few more bubbles rather than an explosion.
@Tank: Thanks, now I also know how to get out of a car without showing my knickers, photograph a nude woman, throw a card through a window, and give a great man to man hug.
@HAMMER73: Someone really needs to point us to the rules on what is and is not acceptable to post to this web site. I know there are rules on commenting (and, Mr. HAMMER73, you may want to read them), but I think the floor is wide open for those that work at this joint. And, personally, I like it that way.
