    @lutton: The 496 serves three purposes: XM satellite weather, invaluable to a VFR pilot doing a cross-country; XM satellite radio, great for listening to in between talking to ATC; and backup GPS. You can never have too many backups.

    @deathbychichi: If I hadn't been restricted to a light sport aircraft, I'd have gone looking for a nice Tiger. My Zodiac is more capable than most Tigers because of the panel, but it doesn't have the speed or useful load. The good news is that it burns a little more than half the fuel per hour.

    @msisaac: Unfortunately, I am limited by medical issues to flying in the light sport category, and there's no such thing as a light sport helicopter. Besides, priced a JetRanger lately?

    Hmph. I don't recall ever eating in the airplane, though it does get warm under that canopy in the summer. Still, the dominant aroma in the cabin is leather and avgas, like most airplanes.
