    The MSI Wind that was hackintoshed for the Giz Gallery was pretty nice looking. Unfortunate that we couldn't take it for a spin to see how the performance was, but the machinery itself looked top notch in person. Glad to hold out longer, cuz if these things get as good as I hope, I'll have a nifty companion system that I can use for travel abroad, and leave the substantial stuff at home and work.

    @TechFcuked89:Thing is, if you were going to create an Apple netbook, it would look a lot like the MB Air, if not be the MB Air, which is gonna cost more than the MB.

    Otherwise, if they start jettisoning essential parts of the computer (beyond the MB Air), it's gonna look more like an iPod than a Mac.

    In the best of all possible worlds, if not an alternative impossible universe, for Apple Netbook-wanting consumers, Apple would drop the price of the MB Air to $599.

    Even if this were a piece of junk, if it could run office, and do basic internets, for 300 clams, I think I'd want one. At least you could write more than one sentence email signed with "sent from my mobile device."

    So he went to all the trouble of putting an Apple logo on the command key for the black one but left the Windows logo on the white keyboard??

    At $299 I'd still buy one though....

    With netbooks all the rage these days, it would be silly for Apple not to bring out an OSX netbook. And with OSX running on Intel hardware these days, Apple should be able to get one up and running with minimal fuss.

    @Serolf Divad: So you are saying that the Air doesn't qualify as a netbook? The specs on it are actually better than netbooks but in terms of form factor it would fit the bill wouldn't you agree?

    @xacked: No, I wouldn't. The footprint is too large and the cost is far beyond netbook pricing.

    @Mammoth:

    Agreed. A netbook must be smaller than an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. And the screen has to max out at 10", and even at 10" IMHO you're talking more ultralight laptop than netbook.

    True, but I abandoned ship on Apple back in the 90's because there was so much more cool niche hardware out there for Windows. In fact, it was a Toshiba Libretto that first pulled me over to the dark side.
