Most Netbooks need RAM too when upgrading to a full OS.
I've got an EEE 900 running XP (I know this is about Ubuntu, I'm going on a tangent), and it runs Office 07 and plays full screen DiVX and other such things. Which surprises me because it's got a Celery 900Mhz. But whatever, the point is, it needed RAM. 90% of performance problems can be solved with RAM. (<-- that applies to boring computer uses, not performance gaming, video editing. I mean like grandma's computer. RAM and a spanking by the anti-spyware cranapple. That's what she needs.).
I sat next to a guy in class that was running OSX on his MSI Wind and he said that it actually runs really well and that he liked it better than Ubuntu.
