Das Ultimate Keyboard is Too Cool for Key Legends
We all laughed at that key legend-less leather keyboard the other day, didn't we? Metadot, the makers of the new Ultimate Keyboard didn't: it also skips all that troublesome bother of having labeled keys. Presumably it's in the name of coolness, since the whole thing looks pretty slick and has precision-engineered, gold-plated switches that click like the legendary IBM Model M. There's also twin USB ports, obligatory blue LED lights and a 6-foot black cable. And it'll cost you $129. It's been a while since we brought you some news from Ultimate Ears (the cat eating through the cable to my UE Super.Fi's doesn't count, sadly). But now UE has released its newest offering, and it's for the kids: the Loud Enough earphones. "They've gone barking mad!" you might say, citing expense and the potential damage that might be done to young ears by a max-volume burst of Noddy. Well, you'd be wrong: these earbud 'phones have special volume-limiting tech built in. Plus they're $40. Supporting anyone up to 168 pounds, the frame, which costs around $6 to make, is made from the cardboard used in industrial packaging, whilst the wheels and chain are standard bike issue, and will cost around $24.

Wall-E Robot Toy In Action
We just saw the Wall-E toy in action, and it's a pretty interesting toy (although not $190 worth of interesting). The best features include fully articulating tank treads, 10 motors, audio and vision sensors, remote control by both joystick and touchpad, individual shutters on each eye, and collision detection. Wall-E also has a "follow me" mode that'll allow a Wall-E to stick to a kid or dog and track it around the house. (We would have tried it out, but it was far too noisy and crowded at Maker Faire for Wall-E to track anything or anyone reliably.) [Maker Faire and Wall-E]

TiVo Rewards Program Ending May 28th
TiVo is officially saying bye-bye to their rewards scheme, and any unused points must be spent by May 28, this year. To get the reward points blowout well underway, TiVo has added a few extra choices to the scheme, including a My DVR Expander drive, (28500 points); TiVo Rewards Entertainment Package (120,00 points) and a TiVo Rewards Ultimate Entertainment Package (150,000 points.) The entertainment packages will both offer TiVo HD with lifetime service and a TiVo Wireless Adapter, whilst the Ultimate package will come with a My DVR Expander drive, too. Microsoft Cuts Vista Prices, XP Still Better
Looks like Microsoft is trying another push to get Vista Ultimate running as your OS of choice. The top-end operating system will receive a price cut from $399 to $319, whilst the upgrade version will now retail at $219, a savings of $40 on the original price. Vista Home Premium will also be dropped in price, from $159 to $129. If you were holding out, now seems like a good time as any to take the Vista plunge, or stick with XP SP3 because it kicks Vista-ass. Your call.
