For example, in music mode playback controls will appear, but whilst sending an SMS these will be replaced with editing functions. The rest of the specs are quite nice too.

<![CDATA[Samsung E210, Plain Vanilla Cellphone With Fancy Pants On]]> Take a look at the Samsung E210, a good example of the level of pretty cellphone technology you can get for around $200. If you're not looking for email capability, Web access, a QWERTY keyboard, and a monthly cellphone bill that's more expensive than dinner at a New York steakhouse, maybe this 16.5mm-thin flip phone is for you.

Don't you just love it when Samsung trickles down its super-slim technology from its Ultra Edition line of cellphones, bestowing its slim benefits on the great unwashed? <![CDATA[Samsung's Ultra Edition 5.9 Sets Bad Example For Teenage Girls]]> Samsung's gone and upped their Ultra Edition 10.9 (10.9mm thick) with the Ultra Edition 5.9, which is 5.9mm thick. For those of you who can't do the math, that's 0.23 inches thick! And instead of trading functionality for thinness like the RAZR, this thing's not actually a piece of shit.

The Ultra 5.9 has a 3.2-megapixel camera, 80MB of internal storage, tri-band, Bluetooth, and a media-player. It may not be a fancy smartphone that runs Windows Mobile, but it is 5.9mm thick, which counts for quite a bit.

<![CDATA[Samsung's Ultra Edition 8.4 Unveiled as World's Thinnest 3G Cellphone]]> Samsung used Paris's Louvre Museum as its own corporate theme park recently when it showed off more additions to its Ultra Edition line of 3G cellphones, specifically the Ultra Edition 8.4. In order to prove that 3G cellphones aren't destined to remain bulky and generally unattractive for the duration of the standard, Samsung's Ultra Edition 8.4—or, Z370—was designed to be the world's thinnest 3G cellphone, no doubt important to the Paris Hilton crowd out there. It's got a 1.93-inch TFT display stuck inside a body whose depth is only 0.3-inches. A 2-megapixel camera (plus a VGA camera) rounds out the cellphone's finer points.

Also introduced at Samsung's Parisian summer vacation was the Ultra Edition 13.8, or the Z720. (Samsung's taking a cue from BMW with the names of its fancier cellphones, it seems.) Supporting WAP 2.0 and boasting a 2.1-inch QVGA display, the 13.8 was introduced as the world's thinnest HDSPA slide-up, which is like saying the number one comedy in America when it's the only one in theaters. For kicks, it also sports a document viewer and a second camera for video calls.

Fingers crossed for a stateside release sometime soon!
