@Fenister: Mine went bork too, but I restored it to factory settings and reverted to an old backup, and tadaaaah! Works again. I had to remember what music and apps was on there before, but what the hell.
If you have a 2G phone, you have normally been free to upgrade without fear, because although you lose the jailbreak until you redo it, your unlock is preserved, as is your activation. When I worked with 3.1beta, I learned the hard way that this isn't the case. So 2G users, wait as well.
3G and 3GS users: You are idiots if you went ahead and upgraded. There's no excuse for you guys.
@appletoad: do you have any idea if version 3.0 for the 2G upgrades the baseband? I have an old 2G phone, jailbroken and unlocked, on the old 2.something firmware
I updated my 2G iPhone to 3.0 last week. When this drops on Friday, I will be unlocking this phone for my wife and upgrading to the 3GS. Nice work from the dev team!

And mine isn't jailbroken or anything. I'll go and be angry at some poor "Mac-Genius" tomorrow :D
