I remember this as if it were yesterday, and I still am in awe of the courage shown by the people there. The image of "tank man" will forever be in my mind as the bravest man I ever saw. That kind of conviction is all too rare in the world.
@jhcovert: Well, since I throw it out there at the slightest mention, yes, yes I am. Pool toy accident with the Ex left me with this perfect Halloween costume:
Along with the above-mentioned pooling problem, this designer has apparently never heard of what architects call a drip edge. It forces water to drip instead of returning along the underside of something. In this case, it would stop the water from running to the bottom of the sphere before dripped on your head. The shape of a traditional umbrella forms a natural drip edge around its perimeter away from your body.
This is so idiotic I'm shocked it's not a Yanko design.
Are approach to preventing rain from getting us wet is all wrong. We need to move to the offensive stance and start attacking the source of our problem, the clouds! No more idolizing them, we shall bring the fight to them.
@Toastie: I agree. So often have I written letters to my congressman to get the government to nuke the sky. After the first couple of times, my letters have not been responded to. I assume that it is because they are too busy preparing the warheads.
How about an umbrella that won't turn itself inside out during a hurricane, or if it does, you can just snap the damn thing back the way it was supposed to be...

His missing teeth looked pretty real, though - maybe he has dentures or bridges.
