I dont mind the vids for those who like them, but, for myself, the vids sort of seems to glorify the naked, raw consumerist society in us that is contributing to global warming and pollution because of the packaging. I am torn since I love pretty boxes, but dont want to kill the planet to have them.

I enjoy unboxing gadgets just as much as the next nerd but I only obtain satisfaction when I'm doing the unboxing. Watching someone else do it just doesn't have the same affect. And besides you just know the person who made that unboxing video is just sneering over there saying, "Ha-ha bitches. Look what I have that you don't. You suck!!"

Actually I'm wrong. I do get some satisfaction when you guys have to return all those loaners after you're done reviewing them, so ha-ha on you!

I just don't get the joy of watching someone else unbox a gadget as what I feel unboxing it my damn self. There's a photo that the wife took of me last year, sitting on the floor surrounded by a swath of computer parts I had just unboxed and was preparing to assemble.

Watching others unbox something just reminds me that I don't have one of "whatever the hell it is." yet.

I'd appreciate more a coverage of how easy/difficult it is to get a device ready to use. IE: It only takes 5 minutes to pull it out of the box, but it has a forced 30 minute OOBE to sit through.

@Lite: supports Bacon Salt...And so should you.: That's not a bad idea. Or a rating scale of how difficult in general the box is to open. Damn headphone cases...

I guess that would be more of an uncasing though.

Worse than Hamsterdance and Dancing Jesus and the Dancing Baby. Worse than "LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE" and "I'd hit that" and "I, for one, welcome our insect overlords". Worse than Rickrolling. Worse than anything from Japan. Worse than JennyCam. Worse than GeoCities. Worse than every shitty MySpace page. Worse than every generic fake Apple product. Worse than The Drudge Report. Worse than AOL. Worse than Prodigy. Worse than every blinking banner ad that wants you to hit a target to get a lower rate on your mortgage. Worse than every Flash ad that won't shut up. @Jason Chen: I'm not hating on facebookers, just the bad facebookers. Unfortunately, kind of like drivers here in Washington, there seem to be more bad ones than good ones. But I admit that may merely be my perception.

i'm conflicted: i love the unboxings for gadgets i'll never buy, but i hate them for gadgets i will buy and want to savor the initial euphoria of opening it all for myself... maybe you need spoiler warnings?
