This really could be sony's chance to turn stuff around. moto and palm both brought some of their magic back let's see if sony can now.
Their problem is their distribution. None of their more impressive phones ever hit the carriers. I think if they could take something like this and get it on one or two of the major carriers they'd have something. If its still just off contract through sony direct they still lose. Could work out. Rumor at one point even had it hitting vzw. Though I doubt that would come to pass. #rachael

As far as Blackberry is concerned, they probably have a little more than two years, but not much if they don't get their act together (or MSoft buys RIM).
Their hardware and OS is seriously lagging behind. Executives want iPhones, that's a fact. If enterprise can eliminate the BlackBerry Enterprise Server from their costs, they will in a heartbeat. #rachael

The phone looks exactly like that. So you can't be referring to the "will look nothing like that part". You must then be refering to the "won't work" part which is pretty weak when you base it off pre-production un-optimized software. Your whole argument is pretty much shot by the fact that sony wouldn't of announced if they didn't think they could deliver.

Those super fast, fancy, real time, eye-candy animations won't happen. want proof? Look at the iPhone. Apple loves eye candy, and put it everywhere that it worked. And even it is pretty jumpy. Or the Palm Pre, same thing. Phone processors just don't have the processing power yet. #rachael

The Zune HD interface looks and performs like ass even though the Zune HD itself has very limited functionality. You would really not have to be paying attention to get a Zune HD instead of an iPod Touch. unless you like getting less for the same money.
Android needs work. Ok, if you are not on AT&T or just can't be on it for whatever reason then Android is probably your best choice right now but thats not saying much. Whats the competition? Blackberries and their archaic OS or Windows Mobile? Pfft.
One thing BB and Android have in common though is the inability to use more than 256MB of apps. Pretty unbelievable limitation in 2009. This means that a lot of the apps the iPhone has are simply not possible on Android. That plus App.OS.hardware fragmentation is a serious issue for Android.
The onscreen Android keyboard sucks. It's slow and the keys are too close together. So far all the Android phones with physical keyboards have lousy physical keyboards too and that includes the Droid.
The Droid at least has a faster proc than other Android phones but its still slow. Scrolling the home screen is laggy. For some reason they use the same proc as the iPhone but it is a 50mhz lower clock rate.
The Android Web browser is not as good as Safari on the iPhone. It passes 93/100 of Acid 3 tests while the iPhone browser passes 100/100/. The iPhone browser is also faster. great job Google, King of the Internet.
No multi-touch on Android. Yeah. Awesome.
The Android UI is not as good as the iPhone. See the laughable Zune HD interface.
Not very impressive given the amount of time and resources Google has thrown at this thing and the fact they had the iPhone to copy for quite some time now.
Sure thats what I would get if I couldn't have an iPhone but I wouldn't think it was the same thing or even close.
