I means seriously people, how much more noticeable are these from one another. Like COOL, I can see allitle bit more of Christian Bales watch in this scene than the suckers who bought the old macbook. Ha Ha.
This information is so pointless, it'll just drives people obsessed with having the newest, tech. to go search their Macbook's production dates and cross check that with these new screens, and just make them upset once they know that they had the old version.
So trivial...
...So where do I look to find out my production date again?
@MnkyPwz: Er... Gizmodo posts are not meant to change your life and transform your view on the world. Look at all the other articles. Do we really need to see a random picture of Dan Aykroyd at some ghost club? This article is just a small piece of news that is relevant to the tech/geeky people world.
Awful story, really. But it's good to hear that he is recovering. As for the Air, it was most likely just dumb luck, though I wouldn't be surprised that the UB design had something to do with it not totally being destroyed. I would imagine that a human neck would be easier to break than that thing.
I've seen an Aluminum MBP run with an external display after being run over by a car even though it was bowed in the middle about an inch.
And it also indicates that the HDD-based iPods may exist for yet another generation, I suppose, to cater to the high capacity crowd. A unibody iPod "classic" design would be most welcome I'm sure. That chrome-like scratch-prone backplate is one of the glaring design flaws in what is initially very "pretty".
Avoid the hell out of these things. They suck. They collect dirt and dust like nothing else and most importantly they're impossible to get off and on. Got a little grime in there? Get ready to spend 30 minutes getting it off, all while trying not to break it or your Macbook. Someone knocks a glass of water onto your Macbook and your quick reaction allow you to easily wipe it up? You didn't. It's trapped in-between the case and body and will make it even harder to remove.
@Blake380: Up until recently, this was confined solely to their handheld products. I don't suppose this will happen to the regular Macbooks and 15" pro for a long time. Man, I hope it never happens.
Apparently all you people didn't watch the 17" unibody non-removable battery propaganda, which clearly stated the benefit of this was that they could eliminate casings, and mechanisms to house a "removable battery", that would make it "removable", and gain some extra space to make the battery even "bigger", and gain extra life out of the system, with a little more weight, but less or the same footprint.
I still think this is kind of lame, but my ipods, and my iPhone batteries (which are non-removable), have held up pretty dang good (a lot better than my other shitty cellphone batts have).
@beekerstudios: This dissecting makes it pretty clear that it'd be easy to replace if it died on you anyway - I think the people who are concerned are mostly the ones who'd be willing to lug around an extra battery for more juice on the go.
@kaubuchon: I suppose so, but hell if lugging a 17" laptop around wouldn't get tiresome. If your main concern is mobility, I'd think that you'd prefer to lug around something smaller/lighter.

Maybe I need to just get out of "serious guy" mode. :(

I find it ironic that some here think it's wrong to customize a gadget from a company whose motto is "Think Different".
