Yeah, it's older, but still better. I'm still laughing at all these people that think the Pre will revolutionize "coms" or whatever you wanna call them.
@John_001: It may not revolutionize anything, but it'll certainly do a lot more for a great many people, and it does everything the iPhone can/will do, and more (far more powerful processor for one thing).
The iPhone didn't revolutionize anything either, unless you consider a bunch of people paying a ridiculous amount of money to shake phones in order to make farty noises a revolution.
$600 & $700 is fucking ridiculous ... especially when you consider that if you spend just a couple hundred more, you could buy a Macbook and use Skype. Yeah, I know it's not the same thing ... but it's crazy that they're going to sell a locked phone for that much money. Crazy.
@dead_red_eyes: It's a ridiculous waste of money, is what it is. There's not a single thing in it, or that it can do, that's worth that kind of dough.
In fairness, all smartphones are ridiculously overpriced. There's not one good goddamned reason for a cellphone, even with half a gig of ram, and a 640x480 screen, to cost more than $200, ever.
But, with the whole contract and ltied-to-network deal, they got ya by the balls, so to speak. If you're not going to bend over for them willingly, they want to make damn sure they're getting a good chunk of change from you. Hence the wallet-rape.
@dead_red_eyes: Where I'm from, the contract-free (but SIM-locked) iPhone 3G goes for about $850 from the official carrier. And yeah, people still buy.

So you have to ask yourself is it worth it to spend $700 bucks for an iphone with no data plan...?

Crazy stuff, I tell you...

Holy shit, people will actually pay $850 for an iPhone?! Now that is ridiculous.
