Vibes have issues with the rubber buds popping off all the time, discomfort of worn for a long period of time (knurling metal in my ear? Nice!) the crummy fabric covered cord, the difficult to find (by touch) microphone button. For listening on an airplane or in a still situation they're good. But for any real activity (sports no way!) they don't cut it. Oddly, the Apple stock headphones have been the best for phone use. What I really want is a pair of beefed up Apple headphones with wind protection on the microphone! I'm on my fifth pair of Apple stock headset(s) since the microphone button stops responding after about a month.

Most in-ear buds seal up my ear - I find it uncomfortable and like to be able to hear a little ambient noise, especially while driving.

The search continues.

@EmeryBias: Actually the button issue is solved on these, because it's separated from the mic and moved down a bit. The sports clips do a decent job making them more secure. I've never had a problem with comfort, and the clips should help more, actually since the weight of the bud (and they are kinda heavy) is redistributed.

And most in-ear buds aim to seal up your ear, for sound isolation. Also, I think it's illegal to drive while wearing headphones, at least in most states.

These look like relics from the set of an indiana jones movie.

And the black and clear ones don't look as atrocious.

But I really liked the design of the original vibes...why couldn't they have kept the design the same and improved the sound? why oh why?

@honozooloo: agreed. I had a pair of the first ones and I really liked the design and the sound was good for the price, but of course they failed in the usual way. I'm on the fence about trusting the company with that much money again, even if I do think they've learned from their mistake.

Weirdly enough the older I get, the less I really find most of the holiday pricing appealing. Rarely do I see such an amazing deal that I'd rather waste time in line.

As someone whose dress trends goth a bit, I wouldn't be caught wearing these damn things. I'll stick w/ my Shure's instead.
