I went through two pairs of Vibe Duos for my iPhone. They sounded great but poor build quality resulted in failure of sound in one and then both ears. The company replaced them while in warranty and even redesigned them (unsuccessfully) but it's no excuse for good quality. I'll be staying away from their stuff.
While vmoda will do their best to send you replacement pair after replacement pair of their product, the fact remains that the build quality on many of their headphones are utter garbage. After 6 pairs myself the average lifespan turned out to be 2 months + 1 month wait time for the replacement after death.
I've had the v-moda Vibes for about a year and love them. Yes I've gone through like 4 pairs but that's what warranties are for. If they weren't so good, I wouldn't keep coming back for more.
the numerous reviews about Vibes faulty design are true. I'm on my fourth pair (the last 3 all sporting the supposed redesigned 'y' shaped connector) and i'm hoping they crap out on schedule this month so I can get one last pair under warranty. When that pair craps out in 4 months, I won't be buying any Faze's, that's for damn sure.
ick. I got a pair of v-moda headphones from amazon...the left headphone broke within the first month, and I returned it, got another, and then they broke again...after the replacement period. So I'm not buying them anymore, until I see a reliable pair. Anyone recommend some better ones?
Chris Jacob, I really hope you don't consider the V-Moda "Vibe" sturdy... I bought a pair of them back when they first came out 3 years ago. The cans broke (left ear bud went out) after 4 months or so of use. Thanks to apples return policy, I did this with SIX PAIRS of different "Vibes" returning them every time the broke every 4 to 5 months for the past few years; until eventually I couldn't talk the SF Apple store into taking them back again... So please, let me know if the "faze" are any more "sturdy" than the "vibe".
@BlakePlancus: You're right, I was a little too assuming of their build quality in the original post. We've clarified the wording a little bit to acknowledge some of those (hopefully resolved) build issues.
look i dont care what anybody says, v-moda makes AMAZING in-ear headphones. I bought a pair of V-Moda Vibe's and lemme tell ya, holy crap! The sound quality on those things is just incredible and they are SO comfy for in-ear's. I refuse to use any other earphones besides these.
Dont trust reviews and try them yourself for a true eargasm..yes eargasm is a word. If you dont know what that is, its because you have never heard music through V-Moda Vibe's.
@EmilyDiomedes: ive always liked my vibes. people complain that they fall apart or break at the plug, but that was the old style. my new style vibes are awesome and those design flaws have been remedied.
I've decided that if I want a small flash-based accessory player for more rigorous outdoor activity, I will get a Sony Walkman, which sells for $50 for 2GB, and is a solid little device overall. I played with one of them at the Sony store on Madison, and it's quite nice.
[O]nly people who Apple "like" are going to get this tech and make compatible headphones-but it's likely that Apple likes almost anybody with the money to pay for licensing.
Isn't the Display Port on the unibody MacBook and MacBook Pro a creation of Apple which they gave away for free so that it could become a standard? So who says they're charging a fee for the license to use this chip?
Beware, Apple, for this sort of behavior will eventually have even the most enthuzed of fanbois raging. You can lock the docks, you can wall your app garden, you can arbitrarily reject applications with impunity, but locking headphones is a bad bad path to go down, far worse than the former.
