The Octavio 1 is basically a stereo dock for your Zune, much like the Hi-Fi is for your iPod. The difference here is style. The Octavio 1 is oozing with it. The 52-pound dock comes wrapped in leather and can be connected to your Zune or even your Xbox 360. Audio-wise, the folks at Zune Scene think it's worth the $499 splurge delivering "full room" sound. They even connected it to their 360 and though it may not blow away your current speaker set up, it is far better than the built-in speakers that come with most flat-panels. I'd have to agree, based on looks and initial reports, if I had a Zune, I'd be saving up for this bad boy.

<![CDATA[Hide Your Speakers in Mediocre Modern Art]]> We've seen VAF's Soundwall, but if you are one of those people who is constantly compensating for… whatever it is you compensate for, you probably want something a big bigger and more ostentatious.

The Octavio should fit the bill nicely. It looks like a giant piece of abstract art, but it hides a speaker underneath its arty façade. There, now don't you feel like a big, cultured man?

<![CDATA[VAF Sound Wall]]>
Those aren't Ikea blocks you're staring at. Those are speakers. I wonder what happens to the wine glasses when you pump some Def Leopard through them at eleven. They're about 2 feet per side, and less than 5 inches deep. And I they come in colors other than salmon, in sub, standard and "acoustic treatment models", the last of which I have no idea about. And they'll be out in March. Oh, did you know that these high end beauties are made by the same VAF that makes those gnarly Zune docks? According to Rolling Stone and a grip of audio geek mags, they know what they're doing.

Um, iPod dock, please.

<![CDATA[Octavio 1 High-End Zune Speakers From VAF]]> Retailing at $499, the Octavio 1 is the most expensive Zune speaker system we've seen yet. At twice the price of the actual Zune unit, the Octavio 1 can hook up a Zune, TV, game console, or DVD player and combines an 8-inch bass driver, two 5.25-inch woofers and 2 fluid-damped fabric dome tweeters all in one. Here's a photo of it in iPod white.

True to Zune form, the speakers ship with three skins, which allow you to go black or pink, too. Or you can strip them all off for the "naked" leather look. Ships now from Amazon.

<![CDATA[VAF Octavio: Kinky Leather Zune Boombox]]> Jason Chen, Charlie White, and I Just got back from the LA Zune event's daytime activities, and found this amazing Octavio Boombox that we'd covered a little while ago. The $500 dollar dock is impressive as hell in person, made of the blackest leather they could harvest from biker jackets and baby cows. There's a controller on top with a slot for a zune. And the back panel has two sets of stereo analog inputs, and an audio/video output for watching zune videos on a TV. Look at the power requirements on the last photo after the jump: 24 volts at almost 4 amps. That's good juice for the 100-watt setup!

They speakers themselves consist of what looks to be around a 6 or 8-inch sub, plus 3 or 4 inch midranges, and tweeters. Sorry, no measuring tape up in the club when I shot it. There's not much info out there on the system, but I would go out on a limb and say this is going to be the Zune dock to have...if you buy a Zune.

Click through for more shots of this hot, hot, hot Zune dock.
